Stella F. Thayer (born December 27, 1940 in Tampa, Florida) is a vice-chair and former president of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.
Thayer, president of Tampa Bay Downs, succeeded John T. von Stade, becoming the museum's ninth president in 2005. She had been a museum trustee since 1994, previously serving as an executive vice-president before being elected president.
The daughter of Chester Howell Ferguson, for whom the University of South Florida’s College of Business Administration building is named, Thayer has been active in thoroughbred racing and has been in ownership with her brother, Howell Ferguson, of Tampa Bay Downs since 1986. She previously served as president of the Thoroughbred Racing Association for a two-year term, beginning in 1999. She is also a member of the Lykes Family of Florida that wholly owns Lykes Bros. Inc with 337000 acres of land holdings (526 sq miles) including cattle ranching, forestry, sod, sugarcane farms, insurance, and ecoassets.
Thayer graduated in 1962 from Hollins College in Virginia and earned her law degree in 1965 at Columbia Law School. A member of the Florida, New Jersey and New York bars, she is an attorney and shareholder in the Tampa-based law firm of Macfarlane, Ferguson and McMullen where she is engaged in the practice of Estate Planning, Probate and Corporate Law. Before it was acquired by British Aerospace, Thayer was the chairman of the board and a director of Reflectone, a manufacturer of full flight simulators.
Among her many civic and governmental activities in Tampa, Thayer is a member of the board of trustees of the Tampa General Hospital Foundation, and a member of the board of trustees of the University of South Florida Foundation. She is the former chairman of the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, the governing board of Tampa International Airport and is the former chairman of the Hillsborough County Hospital Authority. She, along with Dick Corbett and Bob Blanchard, purchased the Tampa Bay Rowdies soccer club from George W. Strawbridge, Jr. in 1983. [1] In 1986 Dick's wife, Cornelia Corbett, became sole owner of the team.
Thayer resides in Thonotosassa, Florida. She was married to banker Bronson Thayer until his death in 2016. [2] They have one daughter, Susannah.
Through holding companies, she and brother Howell own an entire island in Pine Island Sound, Mondongo Island, off the coast of west Florida, just north of Useppa Island.
In 2023 Thayer will be inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame as a Pillar of the Turf for her contributions to thoroughbred racing. [3]

She has also been honored by induction into the National Women's Hall of Fame and Cowgirl Hall of Fame.
Tampa Bay Downs is an American Thoroughbred horse racing facility located in Westchase in Hillsborough County in the U.S. state of Florida, just outside Tampa. It opened in 1926 under the name Tampa Downs, and has also been known as Sunshine Park and Florida Downs and Turf Club.

The district, numbered as the 11th district from 2007 to 2013, is based in Tampa. A Democrat, Castor was a member of the Hillsborough County Commission.

A member of the Democratic Party, Sink was the Chief Financial Officer for the state of Florida and treasurer on the board of trustees of the Florida State Board of Administration. She was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Florida and faced Republican nominee Rick Scott in the 2010 Florida gubernatorial election, losing to Scott by a 1% margin. Sink was also the unsuccessful Democratic nominee in the 2014 special election for Florida's 13th congressional district, losing to Republican David Jolly on March 11, 2014, in a race to fill the vacancy created by the death in 2013 of U.S. Representative Bill Young.

The Tampa Bay area is home to many sports teams and has a substantial history of sporting activity. Most of the region's professional sports franchises use the name "Tampa Bay", which is the name of a body of water, not of any city. This is to emphasize that they represent the wider metropolitan area and not a particular municipality and was a tradition started by Tampa's first major sports team, the original Tampa Bay Rowdies, when they were founded in 1975.

Tampa Bay History Center is a history museum in Tampa, Florida. It is a Smithsonian Affiliate and has been accredited by the American Alliance of Museums since 2015. Exhibits include coverage of the Tampa Bay area's first native inhabitants, Spanish conquistadors, and historical figures who shaped the area's history, as well as a reproduction of a 1920s cigar store. The museum is on the waterfront at 801 Water Street in Tampa's Channelside District. It opened on January 17, 2009. The History Center building is 60,000 square feet (5,600 m2) with 25,000 square feet (2,300 m2) of exhibit space.
A. Bronson Thayer was the Chairman of the Board and past Chief Executive Officer of Bay Cities Bank. He was born in Mineola, New York. From 1974 to 1983 he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Lykes Brothers in Tampa and Vice President of Dominick & Dominick, Inc. from 1969 to 1972 in New York. According to the New York Times, Thayer became Executive Vice President of Lykes, and chair of their executive committee, in 1989.

James J. Jennewein was an architect in Tampa, Florida. He is a fellow at the American Institute of Architects (AIA), past president of the Florida Association of the AIA, past president of the Florida State Board of Architecture, and past president of the Florida Central Chapter of the AIA. He is the son of American sculptor C. Paul Jennewein. He received the National Sculpture Society Medal of Honor. Jennewein was a partner at the firms of McElvy & Jennewein and Ruyle Darby+Jennewein Architects.
Dottie Berger MacKinnon (1942–2013) was a lifelong children's advocate who raised millions to establish safe havens for at-risk kids. She was a Hillsborough County Commissioner from 1994–1998, serving as its chairman from 1996–1997. She was the co-founder of Joshua House and Friends of Joshua House in 1992, a temporary safe location in Lutz for abused and unwanted children. She helped to create a $1.2 million endowment to ensure that it continues. She also established A Kid's Place in 2009, a 60-bed temporary location for foster-care to help siblings to stay together. She was on the board of directors at Tampa General Hospital from 2000 to 2007. On May 4, 2011, she received the Ellsworth G. Simmons Good Government Award by the Hillsborough County Commissioners. She also received the annual award that year from Hood Simply Smart Milk and the League of Women Voters. In 2012, she received the “Woman of Influence Award” from the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. In 2013, she was posthumously inducted into the Florida Women's Hall of Fame.
Ashley Brooke Moody is an American attorney and politician serving as the Florida attorney general since January 2019. Moody previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney and a circuit court judge in Hillsborough County.
The University of South Florida athletic facilities are the stadiums and arenas the South Florida Bulls use for their home games and training. The University of South Florida currently sponsors 19 varsity athletic teams and has 11 facilities in the designated Athletics District on or adjacent to its Tampa campus, one on its St. Petersburg campus, and one elsewhere in Tampa. 18 of the 19 teams have some sort of facility in the USF Athletics District.
