Stephen Bealis an American artist,educator,and academic administrator. He served as the 9th president of California College of the Arts in San Francisco and Oakland,California,from 2008 until 2023. [1] His artwork recognized for his colorful grid paintings.
Beal attended Occidental College in Los Angeles,California;and earned a M.F.A. degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Since 1972,Beal has had numerous exhibitions of his work,and has received many commissions and grants. [2]
From 1973 to 1977 he was a part-time instructor and technician at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. [2] From 1980 to 1983,he was assistant professor of art appreciation,collage,photography studio,and design studio at Elmhurst College in Elmhurst,Illinois. [2]
From 1993 to 1995 he served as chair of graduate design and as an associate professor of painting at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. [2] From 1995 to 1997,he was vice president of academic planning and associate vice president of academic affairs at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. [2] He taught courses in studio painting and still-life painting,and was a graduate and post-baccalaureate advisor. [2] He was also a faculty counselor in admissions. [2]

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) is a private art school associated with the Art Institute of Chicago (AIC) in Chicago,Illinois. Tracing its history to an art students' cooperative founded in 1866,which grew into the museum and school,SAIC has been accredited since 1936 by the Higher Learning Commission,by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design since 1944,and by the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD) since the association's founding in 1991. It was founded in Berkeley,California in 1907 and moved to a historic estate in Oakland,California in 1922. In 1996,it opened a second campus in San Francisco;in 2022,the Oakland campus was closed and merged into the San Francisco campus. Nathan Oliveira was an American painter,printmaker,and sculptor,born in Oakland,California to immigrant Portuguese parents. Since the late 1950s,Oliveira has been the subject of nearly one hundred solo exhibitions,in addition to having been included in hundreds of group exhibitions in important museums and galleries worldwide. He taught studio art for several decades in California,beginning in the early 1950s,when he taught at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. After serving as a Visiting Artist at several universities,he became a Professor of Studio Art at Stanford University.
Jeanne Gang is an American architect and the founder and leader of Studio Gang,an architecture and urban design practice with offices in Chicago,New York,San Francisco,and Paris. Gang was first widely recognized for the Aqua Tower,the tallest woman-designed building in the world at the time of its completion. Aqua has since been surpassed by the nearby St. Regis Chicago,also of her design. Surface has called Gang one of Chicago's most prominent architects of her generation,and her projects have been widely awarded.

Tetsuo Ochikubo (1923–1975),also known as Bob Ochikubo,was a Japanese-American painter,sculpture,and printmaker who was born in Waipahu,Hawaii,Honolulu county,Hawaii. During the Second World War,he served with the 100th Battalion of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. After being discharged from the Army,he studied painting and design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and at the Art Students League of New York. In 1953,he spent a year in Japan,studying traditional brush painting and connecting with his ancestry. He worked at Tamarind Institute in the 1960s and is best known for his entirely abstract paintings and lithographs. Along with Satoru Abe,Bumpei Akaji,Edmund Chung,Jerry T. Okimoto,James Park,and Tadashi Sato,Ochikubo was a member of the Metcalf Chateau,a group of seven Asian-American artists with ties to Honolulu. Ochikubo died in Kawaihae,Hawaii in 1975.

Taravat Talepasand is an American contemporary artist,activist,and educator,of Iranian descent. She is known for her interdisciplinary painting practice including drawing,sculpture and installation. As an Iranian-American woman,Talepasand explores the cultural taboos that reflect on gender and political authority. Her approach to representation and figuration reflects the cross-pollination,or lack thereof,in our Western Society. Talepasand previously held the title of the chair of the painting department at San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI). She is an assistant professor in art practice at Portland State University.
Susan Rankaitis is an American multimedia artist working primarily in painting,photography and drawing. Rankaitis began her career in the 1970s as an abstract painter. Visiting the Art Institute of Chicago while in graduate school,she had a transformative encounter with the photograms of the artist LászlóMoholy-Nagy (1895–1946),whose abstract works of the 1920s and 1940s she saw as "both painting and photography." Rankaitis began to develop her own experimental methods for producing abstract and conceptual artworks related both to painting and photography.
