John Stephen Jones (born June 21, 1964) [1] [2] is the executive vice president, CEO, and director of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He is the son of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, and the older brother of Cowboys executives Jerry Jones Jr. and Charlotte Jones Anderson.

Jones graduated from Catholic High School for Boys and the University of Arkansas with a degree in chemical engineering in 1988. During his collegiate career, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He was a 4-year letterman for the Razorbacks, playing linebacker and on special teams, and started in the 1987 Orange Bowl.

It was the team's first time in franchise history that Tom Landry was not the head coach, as he was fired by Arkansas oil executive Jerry Jones on February 25, 1989. Landry served as Cowboys' head coach since the team's inaugural 1960 season and led the team to 5 Super Bowl appearances, winning 2 of them in his 29 year tenure.

The 2001 Dallas Cowboys season was the team's 42nd in the National Football League (NFL). The Cowboys matched their record from the season before, going 5–11 and missing the playoffs, finishing last in the NFC East. For the first time since 1988, Troy Aikman was not on the Cowboys roster as quarterback, as the three-time Super Bowl champion retired, after playing for the team from 1989 to 2000. For the first time, Pat Summerall and John Madden did not call any Cowboys games for Fox all year.

The 1989 Mobil Cotton Bowl Classic was a college football bowl game played on January 2, 1989, at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. The game was played on January 2, the day after New Year's Day, since New Year's Day fell on a Sunday. The bowl game featured the Arkansas Razorbacks from the Southwest Conference and the UCLA Bruins from the Pacific-10 Conference and was televised in the United States on CBS. UCLA defeated Arkansas 17-3 for its first Cotton Bowl win. Troy Aikman, the UCLA quarterback and LaSalle Harper, an Arkansas linebacker were named the Most Valuable Players of the game.

Charlotte Jones Anderson is the Dallas Cowboys' executive vice president and chief brand officer. Jones was appointed chairman of the Salvation Army's National Advisory Board in 2010 and is the first woman to ever serve in that role. In 2012, Jones was named chairperson of the NFL Foundation and is responsible for leading philanthropic efforts in player care, youth football, and medical research. Jones is the first woman to serve in this capacity for an NFL charitable institution, and the first woman to represent club ownership as leader of a major professional sports league foundation. In 2024, Jones and the Dallas Cowboys were criticized for exploiting the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

Michael Vernon McCoy was an American businessman. As a minority owner and vice-president of the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League (NFL), he was credited with inventing the trade-value draft chart. He also worked in the oil and gas industry.
