Stephen Henry Bastable (born 16 September 1956, in Birmingham [1] ) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from England. [2]

His father Harry Bastable, was also a speedway rider.

Career

Bastable spent the majority of his career with the Cradley Heathens but in three years with the Coventry Bees he scored almost one thousand points. [3]

In 1978, he won the British League Pairs Championship with Bruce Penhall, during the 1978 British League season. [4] Three years later he won the 1981 British Speedway Championship and the same season joined Swindon Robins as the team captain. [5] He joined Coventry Bees in 1983. [6]

In 1988, he won the National League Pairs, partnering Graham Jones for the Stoke Potters, during the 1988 National League season. [7]

At retirement he had earned 18 international caps for the England national speedway team. [2]

Cradley Heathens were a motorcycle speedway team from Dudley, England. The team was founded in 1947 and competed primarily at the top level of British speedway at Dudley Wood Stadium until its closure in 1995. The team was revived as Dudley Heathens in 2010, competing in the National League, reverting to the Cradley Heathens name in 2013 but ceased operating after the 2019 season.

Colin George Pratt was a British motorcycle speedway rider and later promoter of the Coventry Bees who compete in the British Elite League. He was later the manager of the Great Britain national team from 1979 to 1980 and from 1986 to 1993.

Jan Osvald Pedersen is a former Speedway rider who became Speedway World Champion in 1991 after finishing runner-up in 1986 and in third place in 1988 behind fellow Danes Erik Gundersen and Hans Nielsen.
