In 1997, Hillard founded Council Tree Communications, a private equity fund, that assisted the first significant Native American investment in a television network and investments in telecommunications providers [1] [2] [3]
In 2011, Hillard's first book, Mirkwood: A Novel About JRR Tolkien , was involved in an intellectual property controversy. [4] [5] [6] The dispute was settled in May 2011. [7] The settlement terms included the disclaimer, "This is a work of fiction which is neither endorsed nor connected with The JRR Tolkien Estate or its publisher."

Charles William Ergen is an American billionaire businessman. He is co-founder and chairman of Dish Network and EchoStar. He stepped down as CEO of Dish in May 2011 in favor of Joseph Clayton. Ergen resumed as CEO upon Clayton's March 2015 retirement and was CEO until December 2017, when he promoted president and COO Erik Carlson to CEO, but remains as chairman. Reuters reported that the move was effected to remove the day-to-day responsibilities of running DISH and provide more time for Ergen to build out the company’s emerging wireless business. Ergen owns 48 percent of Dish and 46 percent of Echostar shares. He holds 78 percent of Dish's and 72 percent of EchoStar's total voting power.

wi-tribe is an internet services provider operating in Pakistan. It operates in the following four major cities, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi. Wi-tribe is the first one in Pakistan, as well as South Asia and the Middle East, to launch LTE-Advanced (4.5G) to users. The company shut down its services in Lahore after a major issue with the company (EDOTCO) managing their towers. As of 2021, the services were never restored again. Apparently the reason of the dispute between both companies was Wi-Tribe not been able to pay EDOTCO for maintaining the towers, in retaliation EDOTCO shut down the towers in major cities leading to an uncertainty among the people about whether they will ever be restored again.
