Steve Payne (born February 12, 1968) is an American college basketball coach. He currently is a Special Assistant to the Head Coach for the Cleveland State Vikings. Most recently he was the men's basketball coach at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee, until his resignation following the conclusion of the 2018–2019 season. The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles are members of the Ohio Valley Conference and compete in the NCAA's Division I. Payne was appointed the head coach at Tennessee Tech on March 23, 2011, following the retirement of Mike Sutton. [1] Payne had been an assistant to Sutton since the 2002–2003 season. [2]

William Laird Cowher is an American sports analyst, former football player and coach. Sean Patrick Sutton is an American college basketball coach who last served as an advisor for Texas Tech. Sutton served as the head men's basketball coach Oklahoma State University–Stillwater from 2006 to 2008. As a college player and coach, Sutton has been part of over 400 victories, with 391 coming as a coach. As of April 2012, Sean has 39 wins as a head coach at Oklahoma State and 352 as an assistant coach at Mississippi, Oklahoma State and Oral Roberts. The Golden Eagles finished 4th in the OVC during the regular season, and advanced to the championship game of the OVC tournament after upsetting top-seeded Murray State. Tennessee Tech fell in the championship game to Morehead State, 80-73.
