Steven Brian Shirley (born October 12,1956) is a retired pitcher in Major League Baseball. He pitched in 11 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers during the 1982 baseball season. He also pitched two seasons in Japan,1983 and 1984,for the Lotte Orions. He was manager of the Sioux Falls Canaries from 2006 to 2014,winning the league championship in 2008. [1] He then was hired as manager of the Sussex County Miners.

He stood 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) tall and weighed 195 pounds (88 kg). He was among the most dominant pitchers in baseball history,and ranks in the all-time top 10 in several key pitching categories,including wins,shutouts,and earned run average. In 1936,Mathewson was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame as one of its first five members.
Walter Perry Johnson,nicknamed "Barney" and "the Big Train",was an American professional baseball player and manager. He played his entire 21-year baseball career in Major League Baseball as a right-handed pitcher for the Washington Senators from 1907 to 1927. Donald James Cooper is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher who spent parts of four seasons with the Minnesota Twins (1981–1982),Toronto Blue Jays (1983) and New York Yankees (1985). He was the pitching coach for the Chicago White Sox from July 22,2002,until the end of the 2020 season. Under his tutelage,both Mark Buehrle and Philip Humber pitched perfect games,Lucas Giolito pitched a no-hitter,and the White Sox won the 2005 World Series. On October 12,2020,Cooper and the White Sox parted ways after 32 seasons with the organization at various levels.

The Orioles stayed in contention for the division title until an 11–10 loss to the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on September 30. They in turn eliminated the Red Sox 8–7 the following day on October 1.
