Steven A. Scott,(born November 12,1952) is an American educator and the ninth president of Pittsburg State University. Scott served as the provost and vice president of academic affairs at Pittsburg State University,and before that,various positions at Pitt State prior to being president. [1]
Scott attended Pittsburg State University,where he graduated Omicron Delta Kappa in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in education with a mathematics emphasis. [2] Scott received his master's degree in 1977 and his educational doctorate in 1990 from the Oklahoma State University–Stillwater. [3]
After graduating from Pitt State,Scott became a high school teacher in Oklahoma where he also coached. [4] In 1989,Scott moved back to Kansas where he began his long career at Pitt State,starting out as an assistant professor in education. [5] Ten years later in 1999,Scott became Pitt State's Dean of College of Education,serving only seven years before being moved up to vice president for academic affairs in 2006. [6]
On May 2,2009,the Kansas Board of Regents announced Scott as Pittsburg State University's ninth president. [7] Since becoming president in 2009, [8] Scott has created new doctoral degrees, [9] construction of new buildings, [10] and expansions of buildings. [11] In July 2021,Scott announced he would retire at the end of June 2022. [12]
Scott is the brother of former Wal-Mart CEO,H. Lee Scott. [13]

Brian Donald Moorman is an American former football punter in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for Pittsburg State University,and was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 1999 and played for the Buffalo Bills from 2001 to 2012,to which he returned after a one-year absence in 2013. He also played for the Dallas Cowboys in 2012. Moorman is a two-time Pro Bowl selection and was voted into the Buffalo Bills' 50th Anniversary Team. He is the founder of the P.U.N.T. Foundation which supports children in Western New York who face life-threatening illnesses.
James Carmichael Renick was an American academic,who served as Chancellor of University of Michigan–Dearborn and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Renick served also as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Jackson State University in Jackson Mississippi. He resigned this position on October 5,2015.
The Pittsburg State Gorillas football team represents Pittsburg State University in collegiate level football. The Pittsburg State football team was formed in 1908,competes in NCAA Division II and is affiliated with the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA). The Gorillas play their home games at Carnie Smith Stadium,more commonly referred to as "The Jungle",in Pittsburg,Kansas. Pittsburg State has won more games than any other program in NCAA Division II history. It has won four national championships and 27 conference championships,including 13 conference titles in 20 seasons under former head coach Chuck Broyles.

John Andrew Tompkins is an American educator in Kansas. Prior to his previous post at Wichita State University,he served as interim president at Fort Hays State,as well as the president of the Kansas Board of Regents from 2010 to 2015. Tompkins was a professor and dean at Pittsburg State University two different times,and served as a superintendent of three different Kansas school districts. Tompkins is also the former Commissioner of the Kansas State Department of Education,serving from June 1,1996 to June 30,2005.
Brian Wright is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg,Kansas,a position he has held since December 2019. Wright was previously and was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Toledo and has had coaching stops at The College of Wooster,Walsh University,Youngstown State University,Montana State University,Florida Atlantic University. He served as the interim head coach at Florida Atlantic for the final four games of the 2013 season,leading them to four straight wins and bowl eligibility.
