Christo Coetzee was a South African assemblage and Neo-Baroque artist closely associated with the avant-garde art movements of Europe and Japan during the 1950s and 1960s. Doreen Southwood is a South African artist, designer, and boutique owner based in Cape Town. She works in a wide variety of media in her artwork, producing sculptures, objects, prints, film, and more, which she often bases on personal experiences and self exploration. Her candidness regarding personal flaws and the cycles of repression and coping that accompany conservative, middle class, Afrikaans upbringing inform much of her work, calling attention to ways in which women are silenced or otherwise repressed in that space.
Kathryn Smith is a South African artist, curator, and researcher. She works on curatorial projects, scholarly research, and studio practices, while her art deals with uncertainty, risk, and experimentation. She works in Cape Town and Stellenbosch. Her works have been exhibited and collected in South Africa and elsewhere. In 2006, she was appointed senior lecturer in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Stellenbosch and head of the Fine Arts Studio Practice program. Gordon Froud is a South African artist and curator. Froud's work has been showcased in hundreds of exhibitions throughout South Africa and the world, and he has served as a judge for several national art competitions. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including a Merit Award for Sculpture in the 1988 New Signatures Competition and an ABSA Gold Medal for contribution to the arts in 2005. Froud has also spent many years working as an art educator at both the secondary and tertiary level in London and South Africa. Perhaps known best for his use of found and untraditional materials in his sculptures, Froud attempts to explore the human condition in his work, particularly with regard to DNA, babies, genetics, bacteria, viruses and self-portraits. He currently balances his art practice and curation with running his own Gordart Gallery, which focuses on developing previously little-known artists.
Thelma van Rensburg is a South African artist. Her work explores female sexuality and how women are represented in the mass media concerning beauty or ugliness, issues of otherness and the Gaze. Her art making process is adventurous - ranging from mixed media, painting and drawing to digital work. She has been a participant in competitions such as Sasol New Signatures competition 2007 in Pretoria, Ekurhuleni competition in 2009 and Vuleka competition in 2009 in Cape Town and Art Lovers competition in Pretoria in 2014 and 2015 and was a finalist in all of these competitions.

InterseXion, a multidisciplinary exhibition and seven year collaboration with the Sistaaz Hood, a group of South African transgender sex workers, was staged at Iziko South African National Gallery in 2017. His autobiography Robert. A Queer and Crooked Memoir (ISBN 9781928420972), was published in June 2021.
