Steven Brooks is a former American politician who served as a Democratic member of the Nevada Assembly. He represented District 19 from 2011 to 2012,and District 17 from February 4,2013,to March 28,2013. Brooks became the first lawmaker to be expelled from the Nevada State Legislature. [1] Prior to winning elective office,Brooks was a teacher. [2]
After being passed over for a committee position,Brooks allegedly threatened to kill Nevada State Legislature House Speaker Marilyn Kirkpatrick. A month later he was arrested on a charge of domestic battery and resisting arrest. Police also found a gun in his possession which was not registered to him. He was then expelled from the Nevada legislature by a two thirds vote.
A few hours later he was arrested again after a high speed chase in California. [3] [4] Brooks spent nearly a year and a half in prison after pleading guilty to charges of resisting a public officer with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person. Brooks said he was addicted to marijuana at the time of his arrest. [5]
In April 2019,Brooks was arrested a third time after police said he started a fight at a convenience store and threatened to kill Las Vegas police officers. [6]

Patricia Ann Spearman is an American cleric,veteran,and Democratic politician from North Las Vegas,Nevada. She was elected in November 2012 to the Nevada Senate representing District 1,that is composed of the northern section of North Las Vegas and slivers of neighboring jurisdictions,after defeating incumbent John Jay Lee in the primary,and winning the general election. Spearman became the first openly lesbian member of the Nevada Legislature. She was re-elected in November 2016,and serves as co-majority whip since. On October 6,2021,Spearman entered the 2022 race for Mayor of North Las Vegas,Nevada.

Michele Ann Fiore is an American Republican politician representing Ward 6 on the Las Vegas City Council since 2018. She was a member of the Nevada Assembly from 2012 to 2016. Fiore,who represented much of northwestern Clark County,served two Assembly terms. On December 7,2015,she confirmed that she would not seek reelection,and would instead enter the 2016 race for Nevada's 3rd congressional district in southern Clark County. On June 15,2016,Fiore placed third in the primary,with 18% of the vote. She was elected to the Las Vegas City Council in 2017.

At a June 18,2016,rally for presumptive-nominee Donald Trump's presidential campaign in Las Vegas,Nevada,Michael Steven Sandford attempted to grab the pistol of a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer providing security for the event. Upon arrest and after waiving his Miranda rights,Sandford claimed that he had wished to kill Trump to prevent him from becoming president. Sandford was charged with disorderly conduct and with being an "illegal alien in possession of a firearm" for having previously rented a pistol at a shooting range. On September 13,2016,he pleaded guilty to both charges. Sandford was sentenced to 12 months and one day's imprisonment,and was released and deported to the United Kingdom after 11 months in custody.
