Chief Steven Lawani (December 30, 1947) was the Deputy Governor of Benue State, Nigeria, he was the National Deputy Chairman of National Republican Convention (NRC), he was elected as a Senator under the United Nigeria Congress Party during the Sani Abacha transition program. [1]

Lawani had his early education at St. Augustine Primary School Otukpo then Mount St. Michaels secondary school Aliade between 1962 and 1967 and later at the Government College, Kaduna from 1968 to 1969. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) Economics degree from ABU Zaria and in 1975 he obtained an Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management, in Manchester Polytechnic in the UK, also in 1980 he obtained a Diploma in Management Development at Cambridge University also in the UK. He is a Fellow of the Nigeria Hotels and Catering Institute and Nigeria Institute of Economics.

He served in many capacities both in the private and public sectors; in 2004, he was conferred with the national honour of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) by the President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

Suleiman Abdurrahaman also known as Kawu Sumaila(OFR) is a Nigerian politician, businessman, and former Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly House of Representatives Matters. He is the Senator representing the Kano South Senatorial District at the 10th Nigerian National Assembly under New Nigeria People's Party. Samuel Ioraer Ortom is a Nigerian politician, businessman, administrator and philanthropist. He was a Minister of State Trade and Investments in Nigeria during the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan. Ortom was elected governor of Benue State as a member of the All Progressives Congress in 2015, though later defecting to the People's Democratic Party. He was re-elected as governor on 29 May 2019. Ortom's tenure ended on 29 May 2023, succeeded by a Catholic priest of the opposition party, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

Benson Abounu serves as Deputy Governor of Benue State, Nigeria. He was elected as the running mate to Governor Samuel L. Ortom in 2015 under the All Progressive Congress (APC). He is an engineer, a management consultant and a politician.

Titus Uba is Nigerian politician who is currently serving as speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly since August 2018. Uba represents Kyan constituency in the state assembly. His emergence as the speaker of the house followed a vote of no confidence and the subsequent impeachment of the former speaker of the assembly, Terkimbi Ikyange. In 2019, Uba was re-elected speaker for the 9th Benue State House of Assembly.

The 2023 Benue State gubernatorial election took place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Benue State, concurrent with elections to the Benue State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election — which was postponed from its original 11 March date — was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Samuel Ortom was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term. Hyacinth Alia — a suspended Catholic priest — gained the office for the APC by a 33% margin over PDP nominee House of Assembly Speaker Titus Uba.

The 2019 Nigerian Senate election in Benue State was held on February 23, 2019, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Benue State. Patrick Abba Moro representing Benue South, Gabriel Suswam representing Benue North-East and Emmanuel Yisa Orker-Jev representing Benue North-West all won on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.
