Reception

Duane E. Widner reviewed the game for Computer Gaming World , and stated that "For statistical accuracy, few games have ever reached the level enjoyed by Strat-O-Matic." [1]

Win Rogers reviewed version 3.0 of the game for Computer Gaming World , and stated that "Any baseball enthusiast with a strong interest in statistics should take a look at this absorbing program, if only to understand other computer simulations better. In fact, those who have no interest in graphics and simply want a satisfying statistical simulation may find Strat-O-Matic Computer Baseball (Version 3.0) to be the best baseball program of all." Strat-O-Matic is a game company based in Glen Head, New York, that develops and publishes sports simulation games. It produces tabletop baseball, American football, basketball, and ice hockey simulations, as well as personal computer adaptations of each, but it is primarily known for its baseball game.

APBA is a game company founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. It was created in 1951 by trucking firm purchaser J. Richard Seitz (1915-1992). The acronym stands for "American Professional Baseball Association", the name of a board game league Seitz devised in 1931 with eight high school classmates. After World War II, he formed APBA Game Co., working out of his living room. In 2011, after 60 years in Pennsylvania, the company headquarters was moved to Alpharetta, Georgia.
