Stream is a series of digital unconferences hosted by WPP. It is run by volunteers and sponsored by some of WPP's agency clients. Stream Europe takes place in Greece in October each year and hosts over three hundred people in the creative, media and technology industries. Attendees discuss and debate ideas and opportunities in the areas of culture, innovation and the internet.

Stream 07, [1] 08, 09 and '10 have all been hosted by Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP, and Yossi Vardi, internet investor, and founder of Kinnernet.

Stream Asia launched in 2011, and Stream Local events now take place in cities around the world (including London, Moscow, São Paulo, Paris and Berlin) where digital leaders can get together to discuss and debate the future. Stream Africa has taken place in South Africa since 2014. [2]

From 2018, when Mark Read became the new CEO of WPP, Stream became a central part of the company's identity and more of the events started to be hosted at other locations around the world including during SXSW and Cannes.

Participants

Participants at Stream events include leaders in the creative, media and technology industries. The goal is to have a mix of senior executives, startups, technologists and creatives to discuss some of the world's most pressing issues in an open forum.

Press

Stream is a private event, and is designed for the attendees on-site. However, prominent bloggers and writers have attended the event over the past few years, generating coverage from attendees such as Tim O'Reilly, Jeff Pulver, Andrew Keen and David Rowan, Editor of Wired UK. Business Week [3] and the Daily Telegraph [4] has covered the event.

Wired UK called it one of the most important tech conferences in the world. [5] Stream won "Best Conference" at the 2009 Event Awards.

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is a global event for those working in creative communications, advertising, and related fields. It is considered the largest gathering of the advertising and creative communications industry.

Social television is the union of television and social media. Millions of people now share their TV experience with other viewers on social media such as Twitter and Facebook using smartphones and tablets. TV networks and rights holders are increasingly sharing video clips on social platforms to monetise engagement and drive tune-in.

AKQA is a digital design and communications agency owned by WPP. It was founded in London in 1994 and expanded internationally in 2001 through a merger with agencies based in the United States and Singapore. It operated as an independent agency until 2012, when it was acquired by WPP. Initially the firm focused on technology and digital projects, later broadening its focus on design and innovation to services including product and spatial design. In 2020, WPP announced it was merging Grey Group with AKQA to create the AKQA Group. The resulting agency has around 6,000 employees in 50 countries.

<i>Wired UK</i> British magazine

Wired UK is a bimonthly magazine that reports on the effects of science and technology. It covers a broad range of topics including design, architecture, culture, the economy, politics and philosophy. Owned by Condé Nast Publications, it is published in London and is an offshoot of the original American Wired.

Charlie Muirhead is a British internet entrepreneur. He founded his first company, internet software firm Orchestream, at the age of 21. His most recent venture, CognitionX, was co-founded with Tabitha Goldstaub in 2015 but went into administration in 2022. It held its first annual AI conference, CogX, in June 2017, to explore the impact of AI. The conference's second installment took place during London Tech Week in June 2018, at Tobacco Dock in Wapping, East London with SoftBank Investment Advisers as its headline sponsor.

Ken Rutkowski is founder, president and host of KenRadio Broadcasting which is syndicated on CBS Radio, He is also the founder of the media, entertainment and technology alliance known as METal. Rutkowski is the Local Partner of Founder Institute Chapter Los Angeles.

EduTECH www.edutech.net.au is an annual two-day education and ed-tech conference and trade show in Australia that brings together over 10,000 educators from pre-schools, schools, universities, vocational education, training organisations and corporate trainers, as well as Government education departments and a myriad of education products and solution providers, to discuss latest education trends and methods, and to find ways to improve teaching and learning. EduTECH is well-known to be the largest education event in the Southern Hemisphere and APAC region. The conference is held annually between June - August. In 2022 EduTECH will run at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre. Previous events ran at the International Convention Centre Sydney by Terrapinn Ltd.

Judith Caroline Clegg is a British strategy consultant, technology entrepreneur, and author. She is the founder and CEO of Takeout, a strategy consultancy based in London and New York City, and founder of The Glasshouse, a support network for tech entrepreneurs and investors. She was named one of the Fifty Most Influential Britons in Technology by The Daily Telegraph in 2009, and one of the Fifty Most Inspiring Women in European Tech by the Inspiring Fifty organisation in 2015. Judith co-created two initiatives that launched in the House of Commons: PAWS – The Policy for Animal Welfare Scheme and The #HANDSOFF Campaign.
