She played Meryl Knight in the Nine Network drama series Doctor Doctor. Bursill won the AFI (AACTA) Award for Best Supporting Actress for the 1987 film Jilted.

It is directed by John Polson, and is an adaptation by Samantha Strauss from the Liane Moriarty novel of the same name and is produced by Nicole Kidman, who stars. It is also starring Teresa Palmer, Miranda Richardson and Danielle Macdonald.
