Tampere is a city in Finland and the regional capital of Pirkanmaa, located in the western interior of the country. The population of Tampere is approximately 255,000, while the sub-region has a population of approximately 417,000. It is the 3rd most populous city in Finland, and the second most populous urban area in the country after Helsinki.
Tampere University of Technology (TUT) was Finland's second-largest university in engineering sciences. The university was located in Hervanta, a suburb of Tampere. It was merged with the University of Tampere to create the new Tampere University on 1 January 2019.
The University of Jyväskylä is a research university in Jyväskylä, Finland. It has its origins in the first Finnish-speaking Teacher Training College, founded in 1863. Around 14,000 students are currently enrolled in the degree programs of the university.

Erkki Juhani Hartikainen was the chairman of Atheist Association of Finland. He qualified for a Master of Science in the University of Helsinki in 1967. His subjects were mathematics, theoretical philosophy and computer science. Hartikainen has been the chairman of Atheist Association of Finland since 1985. Hartikainen has served as the actuary since the late 1960s, for nearly 20 years as a teacher of mathematics and science in schools, and after that, since 1989, as teacher of information technology at a college in Vantaa. From 1994–1998, he worked as a statistician in Vantaa. Hartikainen retired in 2005.
Hirvitalo is a social center in the Pispala's Tahmela district of Tampere, Finland. It houses the Center of Contemporary Art Pispala.
The Student Union of the University of Turku is a body to which, under public law, all University of Turku bachelor's and master's degree students belong. It is among the oldest student unions in Finland. Postgraduate and exchange students may become a member of TYY, but it is not obligatory. Visiting are ineligible to join TYY.

Pispala is a city area 2.5 km from the centre of Tampere, Finland. It is located on the northern slope of Pispalanharju, the highest esker in Finland.
Irreligion in Finland: according to Statistics Finland in 2020, 29.4% of the population in Finland were non-religious, or about 1,628,000 people. The Union of Freethinkers of Finland and other organisations have acted as interest organisations, legal protection organisations and cultural organisations for non-religious people. In a 2018 international ISSP survey, 40% of the Finnish population said they did not believe in God, 34% said they believed in God and 26% did not know. Nearly one out of every five people in the country is not a member of a religious organisation, and the number of people with no religious affiliation has doubled in two decades.
The Tampere–Pori railway is a railway running between the cities of Tampere and Pori in Finland. The line carries passenger traffic from Tampere to Pori via five railway stations and continues as a freight line to the Port of Pori. Tampere–Pori railway was opened in 1895 and the line follows the river Kokemäenjoki.
The U20 SM-sarja is the premier junior men’s ice hockey league in Finland. It was previously known as the A-nuorten SM-sarja during 1945 to 1991 and the Nuorten SM-liiga during 1991 to 2020. The league was founded by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association in 1945 and a Finnish Champion in men’s under-20 ice hockey has been named annually since the league’s inaugural season – with the exception of the 2019–20 season, in which the playoffs were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eighteen to twenty teams compete in the U20 SM-sarja regular season, which is played in a preliminary ranking stage followed by a divisional or group stage.
Niilo Rudolf Tammisalo was an influential figure in Finnish sports in the first half of the 20th century. He was a versatile athlete who represented Finland as a player with the national teams in football, ice hockey, and bandy; he was also on Finnish Champion teams in each of the three sports with domestic clubs. When his career as a player came to a close in the early 1930s, he dedicated himself to coaching, refereeing, teaching, and administrating sports organizations.
Yrjö Oskar Ruutu was a Finnish social scientist and politician. Ruutu was the first principal of the School of Social Sciences 1925–1932, 1935–1945 and 1949–1953, and the first Finnish professor of International relations 1949–1954. Ruutu was the first in Finland to defend his doctoral thesis on social sciences and wrote the first Finnish presentation on international relations as a science. He was also the head of the National Board of Education 1945–1950.
Räshid Hakimsan was a Finnish ice hockey player and referee who played in SM-Sarja during 1951–1960 and won the Finnish Championship four times. Sports writer Martti Huhtamäki called Hakimsan one of the "big favorites" of local hockey crowds of his time. After his playing career and until 1974, Hakimsan operated as a hockey referee of international status. He was also among the most active referees of his time in Finland and was awarded afterwards.
Kaakinmaa is a district in Tampere, Finland, located in the city center. It includes the area south of Pyynikki Church Park between the Hämeenpuisto park and the Mariankatu street. To the south, the area extends to Eteläpuisto on the shores of Lake Pyhäjärvi. The neighboring parts of the city are Nalkala in the east, Amuri in the north and Pyynikki and Pyynikinrinne in the west. Sometimes Kaakinmaa is incorrectly considered to belong to Pyynikki and Pyynikinrinne; however, Kaakinmaa has its own district.
Koivistonkylä is a district located in the southern part of Tampere, Finland. It borders Nekala in the north, Rautaharkko in the west, Taatala in the south and Veisu in the east. Many ice hockey players from Tampere come from Koivistonkylä, including Raimo Helminen. Koivistonkylä also has its own amateur ice hockey club called Koivistonkylän Chiefs.
Hilja Ilma Gestrin was a Finnish architect. He designed the premises of the Tampere Art Museum in 1930. Hilja Kainulainen came from Kuhmoniemi in Tuupala. His parents were merchant Petter Johan Kainulainen and housewife Helena Maria Kainulainen. Nine children were born to the couple. The family home is now a museum.
