Tripura is a state in Northeast India. The third-smallest state in the country, it covers 10,491 km2 (4,051 sq mi); and the seventh-least populous state with a population of 36.71 lakh. It is bordered by Assam and Mizoram to the east and by Bangladesh to the north, south and west. Tripura is divided into 8 districts and 23 sub-divisions, where Agartala is the capital and the largest city in the state. Tripura has 19 different tribal communities with a majority of the Bengali population. Bengali, English and Kokborok are the state's official languages.

Syandan Patrika is an Indian Bengali language daily newspaper published from Tripura, India. It was founded and is currently managed by Subal Kumar Dey.
Manush Patrika is a Bengali daily newspaper published from Agartala, the capital of the Indian state Tripura. It was established in 1952 by late Kamala Ranjan Talapatra who served as the editor for over 50 years. As of 2021, his son, Priyabrata Talapatra is the editor. Its circulation is mainly limited to Tripura, and outside Agartala it is circulated in the cities of Bishalgar, Khowai, Udaipur, Dharmanagar, Kailasahar, Belonia and Teliamura.

Sachin Dev Burman was an Indian music director and singer. A member of the Tripura royal family, he started his career with Bengali films in 1937. He later began composing for Hindi movies and became one of the most successful and influential Indian film music composers. Burman composed the soundtracks for over 100 movies, including Bengali films and Hindi. Apart from being a versatile composer, he also sang songs in the light semi-classical and folk style of Bengal. His son, R. D. Burman, was also a celebrated music composer for Bollywood films.
Melaghar is a small town located in the Indian state of Tripura and a Municipal Council in Sipahijala district, situated about 50 km from the capital Agartala. Sudip Datta Bhaumik was a journalist killed in the north-eastern state of Tripura in India by a police officer of the Tripura State Rifles during an altercation. Sudip was a reporter for the Bengali language newspaper Syandan Patrika and the local television channel News Vanguard.
Biplab Kumar Deb is an Indian politician and former Chief Minister of Tripura. He was the state unit president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Tripura from 7 January 2016 up to 2018. He led the BJP to victory in the 2018 Legislative Assembly Election, ending the twenty-five year rule of the Left Front government led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist). He took his oath as the tenth Chief Minister of Tripura on 9 March 2018. Deb resigned from the post on 14 May 2022, a year ahead of elections.

Pratibadi Kalam, formerly Kalamer Shakti, is an Indian Bengali language daily newspaper published from Agartala, Tripura. Anal Roy Choudhury is the founder and chief editor of the newspaper.
Agartala Press Club is the professional club for journalists of Tripura located in the capital Agartala. The current president is Subal Kumar Dey and the General Secretary is Pranab Sarkar.
Bhupendra Chandra Datta Bhowmik, also known as Bhupen Datta Bhowmik or Bhupen Datta Bhaumik or Bhupen Dutta Bhowmik, was an Indian Bengali journalist from Agartala, Tripura. He was the founder and chief editor of the Bengali language daily newspaper Dainik Sambad. He was awarded "Friends of Liberation War Honour" posthumously in 2012 from Bangladesh for his outstanding contributions in the Bangladesh Liberation War.
