Sudesh Dhankhar is the current Second Lady of India. [1] She was previously the First Lady of West Bengal. [2] [3]
She completed her pre-university course, bachelor's and master's from Banasthali Vidyapith. Between 2013 and 2022, she pursued a PhD at Banasthali Vidyapith. She presented her thesis on groundwater conservation in Jhunjhunu district and was awarded the degree in 2022. [4]
As Second Lady of India, she accompanied her husband to the coronation of Charles III. [5]
She was born on 20 July 1956. She married Jagdeep Dhankhar, Vice President of India in the year 1979. [6] She has one daughter named Kamna who is married to Kartikeya Vajpayee son of late Shri Vijay Shankar Vajpayee, and Smt. Abha Vajpayee. [7] [8] [9]

On 17 July 2022, Margaret Alva was announced as the vice-presidential candidate by the United Progressive Alliance and some non-UPA Parties. Hence, Jagdeep Dhankhar won the election by 528 votes defeating the United Opposition candidate Margaret Alva.He secured the highest electoral votes in more than 30 years
