F. Sue Chandler (1940-2023) died in September 2023 and was known as Sue (or Suzanne) Chandler. [1] She was a British schoolteacher and textbook writer, who, together with co-author Linda Bostock, wrote the "Bostock and Chandler" series of textbooks for advanced level mathematics in the UK. At the time she began the series, she was a full-time mathematics teacher at Southgate Technical College in Southgate, London. She eventually stopped teaching courses and focused on textbook writing. Her books have sold more than 6 million copies. [2] [3]

He was a professor of mathematics from 1914 to 1940 at ETH Zürich and from 1940 to 1953 at Stanford University. Harry Pollard was an American mathematician. He received his Ph.D from Harvard University in 1942 under the supervision of David Widder. He then taught at Cornell University, and was Professor of Mathematics at Purdue University from 1961 until his death in 1985. He is known for his work on celestial mechanics, orthogonal polynomials and the n-body problem as well as for the several textbooks he authored or co-authored. In the theory of Orthogonal polynomials, Pollard solved a conjecture of Antoni Zygmund, establishing mean convergence of the partial sums in norms for the Legendre polynomials and Jacobi polynomials in a series of three papers in the Transactions of the American Mathematical Society. The first of these papers deals with the fundamental case of Legendre polynomials. The end point cases in Pollard's theorem was established by Sagun Chanillo.
Alan Curtiss Tucker is an American mathematician. He is a professor of applied mathematics at Stony Brook University, and the author of a widely used textbook on combinatorics; he has also made research contributions to graph theory and coding theory. He has had four children, Katie, Lisa, Edward, and James.
