Ramesh Bais is an Indian politician and was the governor of Maharashtra from 2023 to 2024. He also served as the governor of Jharkhand from 2021 to 2023 and the governor of Tripura from 2019 to 2021. Legislative Assembly elections were held in Jharkhand,India,from 30 November to 20 December 2019 to elect the 81 members of the 5th Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. Results were declared on 23 December 2019. The pre-election term of the Assembly was set to end on 27 December 2019.
The 2024 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election was held in three phases from 13 to 20 November 2024 to elect all 81 members of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. The counting of votes was done on 24 November 2024. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha won 34 seats,securing 23.44% of the popular vote and its alliance,Mahagathbandhan including the Congress,CPI(ML)L and RJD won 56 seats,securing 44.37% of the popular vote. The Bharatiya Janata Party won 21 seats,securing 33.18% of the popular vote and its alliance,NDA won 23 seats,securing 38.14% of the popular vote. The Mahagathbandhan saw a gain of 8.98% in vote share and NDA saw a loss of 4.68% in vote share compared to the previous election.
Election for the Sixteenth Legislative Assembly was held in the Indian state of Punjab. Polling was done on 20 February 2022 to elect the 117 members of the Punjab Legislative Assembly. The counting of votes declaration of results was done on 10 March 2022. The Fifteenth Punjab assembly was dissolved on 11 March 2022. The dissolution was necessitated after the results of the election was declared on 10 March. In the Sixteenth Punjab Legislative Assembly,92 members of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party form the treasury benches. The main opposition party in the assembly is Indian National Congress with 18 seats. The other parties which are in opposition are the Shiromani Akali Dal,the Bharatiya Janata Party,the Bahujan Samaj Party and independents. AAP MLA,Kultar Singh Sandhwan was announced as the speaker of the assembly.
