Rameshwar Oraon (born 14 February 1947) is an Indian politician from Jharkhand. He served as the Finance Minister of Jharkhand and was also a member of the 14th Lok Sabha. He represented the Lohardaga constituency of Jharkhand and is a member of the Indian National Congress Party. [1] He is a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.
Oraon is from Kanke,Jharkhand. He was born in Daltonganj,in the erstwhile Bihar state. He is a retired IPS officer. He completed his doctorate in 1997 at Magadh University,Patna. Earlier,he did his M.A. in economics in 1970 and B.A. Hons in 1967 at Ranchi University,Ranchi. [2]
Oraon is a former Indian Police Service officer of the 1972 batch. [3] He is a recipient of the President's Police medal. He resigned the service in 2004 to contest the general election and won on Congress ticket.
Oraon was chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes from 28 October 2010 to 27 October 2013 during his first term,and continued till 26 August 2017 for his second term. He is thus an ex officio member of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Oraon served as the Member of Parliament,14th Lok Sabha. On 26 August 2019,he was appointed by the Congress,as the new president of Jharkhand State unit. [4] He also served as the Union Minister of State for Tribal affairs in Government of India headed by Manmohan Singh. He won the 2019 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election from Lohardaga Assembly constituency and became a minister in the Jharkhand government. [5] He defeated Bharatiya Janata Party candidate,Sukhdeo Bhagat. [6] [7]
On 29 December 2019,he was sworn in as the Cabinet Minister in the Government of Jharkhand,headed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren,along with Alamgir Alam and Satyanand Bhokta. [8]
The Enforcement Directorate conducted raids at premises linked to his son in alleged liquor scam in August 2023. The Congress leaders denied the allegations and slammed the BJP government for the searches. [3]

Shibu Soren is an Indian politician who is currently member of Rajya Sabha representing Jharkhand and the leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. He formerly served as 3rd Chief Minister of Jharkhand,first in 2005 for 10 days,then from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2009 to 2010. He is also the President of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) political party,a constituent of the INDIA Alliance. He was the member of Lok Sabha from Dumka from 1980 to 1984,1989 to 1998 and from 2002 to 2019 and Minister for Coal in the Union Cabinet from 2004 to 2004,2004 to 2005 and from 2006 to 2006,when a Delhi district court found him guilty in the murder of his private secretary Shashi Nath Jha in 1994. He has also been indicted in the past on other criminal charges.
Although India is a parliamentary democracy,the country's politics has become dynastic or with high level of nepotism,possibly due to the absence of party organizations,independent civil-society associations which mobilize support for a party,or centralized financing of elections. The dynastic phenomenon is present at the national,state,regional,and district level. The Nehru–Gandhi family has produced three Indian prime ministers,and family members have largely led the Congress party since 1978. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also has several dynastic leaders. In addition to the major national parties,other national and regional parties such as Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK),Shiromani Akali Dal,Shiv Sena,Samajwadi Party,Rashtriya Janata Dal,Janata Dal Secular,Jharkhand Mukti Morcha,Kerala Congress,Jammu &Kashmir National Conference,Indian Union Muslim League,AIMIM,and the Nationalist Congress Party are all dominated by families,mostly those of the party founders.
Kariya Munda is an Indian politician who served as Deputy Speaker of the 15th Lok Sabha. He has been a minister in the Government of India,serving in the governments led by the Janata Party in 1977 and by Bhartiya Janata Party from 1999 onwards.

Chandrashekhar Dubey was also a senate member of Nilamber Pitamber University,nominated by Hon'ble Speaker of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. In July 2015,Dadai Dubey was arrested for misbehaving with the police and was sent to judicial custody.
Babulal Marandi is an Indian politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its Jharkhand unit president. He was the first Chief Minister of Jharkhand and formerly Leader of the Legislature Party of BJP in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. He was also the founder and national President of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik),which he later merged with BJP. He was the Member of Parliament in 12th,13th 14th and 15th Lok Sabha from Jharkhand. He was the Union State Minister (MoS) for Forests &Environment of India in the BJP –led National Democratic Alliance Government in 1998 to 2000. He was appointed as Jharkhand BJP president on 4 July 2023.
