Champai Soren [2] [3] [4] (born 1 November 1956) is an Indian politician who served as the 7th Chief Minister of Jharkhand from 2 February 2024 to 3 July 2024 after the arrest of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on allegations of money laundering. Soren was born in Jilinggora village in Seraikela-Kharsawan district. [9] He is a tribal leader and his father Simal Soren is a farmer. He studied till Grade 10 in a government school before entering politics. [10] He has seven children. [11]
Soren is a seven-time MLA. [9] He was first elected from Seraikella in 1991 and served two-terms in the Bihar Legislative Assembly till 2000. During the separate Jharkhand state movement,he became a member of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). Before joining JMM,he served as an independent MLA. [9] Later,he represented Seraikella assembly constituency in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly continuously for four terms from 2005 to 2024. [12]
He served as the Cabinet Minister of Transport,Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Caste &Backward class welfare,Government of Jharkhand in the cabinet of 2nd Hemant Soren ministry from 2019 to 2024. [3] [13] In a sudden turn of events after former CM Hemant Soren was arrested,he was made the Chief Minister on 2 February 2024. [14] [15]
Soren is also known as the "Jharkhand's Tiger",as he played a crucial role in the fight for the creation of a separate state in the 1990s. [16] [10]

Shibu Soren is an Indian politician who is currently member of Rajya Sabha representing Jharkhand and the leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. He formerly served as 3rd Chief Minister of Jharkhand,first in 2005 for 10 days,then from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2009 to 2010. He is also the President of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) political party,a constituent of the INDIA Alliance. He was the member of Lok Sabha from Dumka from 1980 to 1984,1989 to 1998 and from 2002 to 2019 and Minister for Coal in the Union Cabinet from 2004 to 2004,2004 to 2005 and from 2006 to 2006,when a Delhi district court found him guilty in the murder of his private secretary Shashi Nath Jha in 1994. He has also been indicted in the past on other criminal charges.

Dhalbhumgarh Airport is a proposed domestic airport,which will serve the city of Jamshedpur,Jharkhand,India. It will be built on a former World War II era airfield in Dhalbhumgarh in East Singhbhum district,about 60 km (37 mi) from Jamshedpur. The Government of Jharkhand and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of the airport on 24 January 2019. Under the MoU,a joint venture company would be set up to construct the airport. The project was initially expected to be completed by December 2020.
