Rabindra Nath Mahato is an Indian politician, currently serving as the Speaker [1] of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. He is a leader belonging to Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. He was born in the year of 1960 in his paternal place Patanpur Jamtara in the Indian State of Jharkhand. His father is a retired primary school teacher. Currently he is residing at Barawa, Jamtara, Jharkhand.

Early life and education

Rabindra Nath Mahato was born in Krishnapur on 12 January 1960 in a Yadav family. Rabindra Nath Mahato is a Professional Graduate . He is a Graduate from Bhagalpur University Bhagalpur. He also completed B.ed. from Utkal University Odisha.

Political career

Started his political career from Barawa, Jamtara Jharkhand as an independent candidate. He contested against 9 times MLA Dr. Vishweshwar Khan and lost in that election.

He joined Shibu Soren during Jharkhand Movement and soon due to his leadership quality and simple personality he became favorable leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

Later he won his first election of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from Nala in the year 2005 but lost the subsequent election in 2009 before winning it again in 2014 and 2019 polls. In the Assembly election of 2019 the JMM along with INC and RJD formed the Government. Mr. Mahato was elected as 7th speaker of Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha. As the speaker of this newly formed state he took important measures to improve the legislative work. The assembly of this state was witnessing frequent disruptions in past, Mr. Mahato took the opposition leaders on board and utilized the time of debate and discourse to the fullest. Recently under his directions Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha celebrated its 20th foundation day. [2]

She is now out on bail.

The 2024 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election was held in three phases from 13 to 20 November 2024 to elect all 81 members of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. The counting of votes was done on 24 November 2024. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha won 34 seats, securing 23.44% of the popular vote and Mahagathbandhan won 56 seats, securing 44.37% of the popular vote. This was the second straight state election in Jharkhand where the party that won the most votes did not win the most seats.

Amit Mahto is an Indian politician and a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from Silli and won Vidhan Sabha election in 2014. He was a member of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and considered the face of youth in the Jharkhand Political Party. Former JMM MLA from Silli, Amit Mahto has resigned from the party, accused the leadership of compromising the interest of the people of Jharkhand and forming a new political party Khatiyani Jharkhandi Party on 6 April 2022 to give rights to the local Khatiyani People of Jharkhand.

Sarfaraz Ahmad is an Indian politician from Jharkhand. Ahmad is a member of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. He is a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. He represented Gandey constituency in 1980 and 2009 as INC MLA and in 2019 as JMM MLA. Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed has been elected leader of JMM in parliamentary of Rajya Sabha. This decision was taken in the party parliamentary group meeting.

Lobin Hembrom is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Hembrom was a three time member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from the Borio constituency in Sahibganj district in 2000–2004, 2009–2013, and 2019–2023 on Jharkhand Mukti Morcha ticket.
