Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi (born 17 July 1959) is a Nigerian politician who became the senator of Kaduna North Senatorial District at the Federal Republic of Nigeria's Senate in 2015 Nigerian general elections.

Contents

Hunkuyi was elected the chairman Kudan local government area of Kaduna state, he then contested and won the Kaduna North Senatorial District election on 28 March 2015.

Senator Hunkuyi, declared that the Governor of Kaduna State Malam Nasir El-Rufai has not been fair to the people of the State, and vowed to "do everything possible" to vote him out in the next election in 2019. [1]

Early life and education

Senator Hunkuyi had attended the Kafanchan Teachers College later proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University and graduated with a bachelor's degree of Education (B.ed) in 1986. [2]

2023 elections

Hunkuyi emerged as the gubernatorial aspirant of New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP). [3] In 2022, he dumped People Democratic Party (PDP) for NNPP. [4]

Suleiman Abdu Kwari is a Nigerian politician and public finance management expert, senator for the Kaduna North Senatorial District of Kaduna State Nigeria. He was elected during the February 2019 Nigeria general elections under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was the commissioner of Finance Kaduna State (2015-2019) appointed by the Governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai and was also a member of the House of Representatives for Sabon Gari Local Government constituency of Kaduna State.

The 2019 Kaduna State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. APC candidate Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai defeated main opposition party PDP's candidate, Isah Ashiru, to emerge winner of the contest. APC was said to have won 14 LGAs, PDP nine.

The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections were held for state governors in 31 out of 36 Nigerian states. All but three elections were held on 18 March—concurrent with elections to every state house of assembly, three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections—while the Imo State, Kogi State, and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11 November. The last regular gubernatorial elections for all states were in 2019. All states have a two term limit for Governors which makes 18 incumbent governors ineligible for re-election.

The 2023 Jigawa State gubernatorial election took place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Jigawa State, concurrent with elections to the Jigawa State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election — which was postponed from its original 11 March date — was later scheduled to hold three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Mohammed Badaru Abubakar was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term. Deputy Governor Umar Namadi held the office for the APC by a margin of 24% over PDP nominee Mustapha Sule Lamido — a businessman and son of former Governor Sule Lamido.

The election — which was postponed from its original 11 March date — was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Nasir Ahmad el-Rufai was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term. Senator Uba Sani retained the office for the APC by a margin of less than 1% — under 11,000 votes — over first runner-up and PDP nominee Isa Ashiru, a former member of the House of Representatives.

The 2023 Katsina State gubernatorial election took place on 18 March 2023, to elect the governor of Katsina State, concurrent with the elections to the Katsina State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election was postponed from its original 11 March date, three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent APC Governor Aminu Bello Masari was term-limited and could not seek for re-election to a third term. Umar Dikko Radda — the former SMEDAN Director-General — held the governorship for the APC by a margin of 27% over former Senator Garba Yakubu Lado, the PDP nominee.

The 2023 Taraba State gubernatorial election was held on 18 March 2023, to elect the governor of Taraba State, concurrent with elections to the Taraba State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. Incumbent PDP Governor Darius Ishaku was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term. Kefas Agbu held the office for the PDP by defeating NNPP nominee Muhammad Sani Yahaya.

On August 29, 2021, Na'allah's eldest son, Abdulkarim Bala Na'Allah was murdered by unknown assailants in his residence in Kaduna state. In 2023, Na'allah lost his reelection to the Senate as he was defeated by Garba Maidoki who polled 75,232 votes while Na'allah scored 70,785.

The 2015 Nigerian Senate election in Kaduna State was held on March 28, 2015, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Kaduna State. Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central and Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi representing Kaduna North won on the platform of All Progressives Congress, while Danjuma Laah representing Kaduna South won on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.
