Suman Setty debuted in Teja's Jayam (2002). He was selected from a group of newcomers and his comedy was well received leading to offers in other films. [2]

Jayam (transl. Victory) is a 2003 Indian Tamil-language romantic action film directed by M. Raja in his Tamil debut. The film is a remake of the 2002 Telugu-language film with the same title. It featured Raja's brother Ravi Mohan and Sadha in their first Tamil ventures respectively, with the latter reprising her role from the Telugu movie. The film features Gopichand, who is also reprising his role, alongside an ensemble supporting cast including Rajeev, Pragathi, Nizhalgal Ravi, Radha Ravi, Nalini, Senthil, and Suman Setty. The music was composed by R. P. Patnaik.

Jaya Prakash Reddy was an Indian actor who predominantly appeared in Telugu films. Born in Sirvel of Andhra Pradesh, he came into the limelight with the film Samarasimha Reddy (1999) where he played the role of Veera Raghava Reddy. He acted as an antagonist in several films such as Jayam Manade Raa (2000) and Chennakesava Reddy (2002). Later in his career, he was also featured in many comic roles. He died of cardiac arrest at his home in Guntur on 8 September 2020, at the age of 74. He was honoured with Special Jury Award (Alexander) for his contribution to Tollywood at the 16th Santosham Film Awards.

Neti Bharatam is a 1983 film written and directed by T. Krishna and produced by Eetharam Films. Suman and Vijayashanti played lead roles, with Nagabhushanam and Rajyalakshmi in assisting roles. It is a musical hit film promoting liberal ideals. Lyrics for the songs were written by revolutionary poet Srirangam Srinivasa Rao, Adrushta Deepak, and music scored by K. Chakravarthy. The movie is most famous for the song "Maanavatvam Parimalinche", which got the lyricist Adrushta Deepak noticed.
