Sun Current newspapers

The Sun Current are a series of newspapers that are or have been published in Minnesota. As of 2023, two surviving newspapers were edited by Sun Current Newspapers of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, a subsidiary of Adams Publishing Group. [1]

Historical newspapers

As of 2017, according to the Minnesota Newspaper Association, the titles included:

Bloomington Sun Current. [2] Published weekly since before 1994, [3] publication subsequently ceased in November 2018, when it merged with the Richfield Sun Current to form the Bloomington-Richfield Sun Current. The paper was originally published in Bloomington, but later the editorial moved to Eden Prairie. As of 2023, the Minnesota History Center maintained a set of archives of the issues of the Bloomington Sun Current, [4] as did the Bloomington Historical Society at its Old Town Hall Museum. [5]

Eden Prairie Sun Current. [2] Publication began in September 2002 and ceased in August 2019, when it merged with the Sun Sailor . In its final year the paper was reported to have an average run of 3134 copies. [6] As of 2023, The Minnesota History Center maintained a set of archives of its issues. [4]

Edina Sun Current, [2] published weekly as of 2023. [7] The paper has been published since July 16, 1984. [8]

Richfield Sun Current. [2] Publication ceased in 2018 when it merged with the Bloomington Sun Current to form the Bloomington-Richfield Sun Current. [4]

The Edina Sun-Current, Eden Prairie Sun-Current, and Richfield Sun-Current were all distributed in print media and were considered part of the Twin Cities Metro Area market. [9]

Current newspapers

As of early 2023, Adams Publishing Group claimed current publication of:

Bloomington-Richfield Sun Current, published weekly [7] in Eden Prairie since December 2018, resulting from the merger of the Richfield Sun Current and the Bloomington Sun Current; [4]

and publication of the aforementioned Edina Sun Current. [7]

Circulation

As of 2023, the editorial claimed over 20,000 readers of the Sun Current newspapers. [1] On its July 2019 report, the Minnesota Newspaper Association reported over 3,000 readers for the Eden Prairie Sun Current, over 6,000 for the Edina Sun Current, and over 11,000 for the Bloomington-Richfield Sun Current. [6]

In March 2024, Sun Current announced it was switching to a paid subscription model. [10]

The Minneapolis, Northfield and Southern Railway was an 87-mile (140 km) long American shortline railroad connecting Minneapolis and Northfield, Minnesota. It was incorporated in 1918 to take over the trackage of the former Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester and Dubuque Electric Traction Company, also known as the Dan Patch Lines. On June 2, 1982, it was acquired by the Soo Line Railroad, which operated it as a separate railroad until merging it on January 1, 1986, along with the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad.

The Lake Conference a high school athletic conference with seven member high schools in the western and southwestern suburbs of the Twin Cities, Minnesota. It is affiliated with the Minnesota State High School League.

<i>Idaho State Journal</i> Daily American newspaper

The Idaho State Journal is daily newspaper published in Pocatello, Idaho, United States, that serves southeast Idaho, including Bannock, Bear Lake, Bingham, Caribou, Franklin, Power, and Oneida counties. The paper is published by Travis Quast, with Ian Fennell as managing editor.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Hennepin County Library</span> Public library in Minnesota

Hennepin County Library is a public library system serving Hennepin County, Minnesota, US. The current iteration of Hennepin County Library was formed by the merger of urban Minneapolis Public Library and suburban Hennepin County Library on January 1, 2008. The system has 41 library locations, deposit collections at nursing homes and correctional facilities, mail service to the homebound, and extensive outreach services. The library is a department of Hennepin County Government. The library headquarters are in the Ridgedale Library in suburban Minnetonka. The library system has an eleven-member advisory Library Board appointed by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners. It is a member of the Metropolitan Library Service Agency, a consortium of eight Twin Cities library systems.

Paul D. Rosenthal is a Minnesota politician and former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives. A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL), he represented District 49B, which included west Bloomington, south Edina, northeast Eden Prairie, and southwest Minnetonka in Hennepin County in the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

In March 2014, APG began to acquire newspapers and media related businesses. As of 2022, it owned more than 127 newspapers in 20 states and the District of Columbia.

Nine Mile Creek Regional Trail is a 15.3-mile (24.6 km), mixed-use path in Hennepin County, Minnesota, United States. It is maintained by the Three Rivers Park District. The trail features 8 separate boardwalks in 1.7 miles (2.7 km) that traverse Nine Mile Creek and its marshes. It is predicted to serve 400,000 people yearly.
