This list of newspapers in Minnesota shows newspapers that are published currently in the state of Minnesota in the United States of America. According to records of the Library of Congress, there have been throughout its history almost 4,000 newspaper titles in the current area of the state of Minnesota. [1] At the beginning of 2020, there were over 500 newspapers in publication in Minnesota. [2] The earliest paper was the Minnesota Weekly Democrat in St. Paul in 1803 well before statehood in 1858. [3] There are three newspapers that trace their roots back to before Minnesota statehood in 1858. The oldest, continually published newspaper is the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
According to the Minnesota Newspaper Association in 2020, there were 24 daily newspapers in print in Minnesota. [4] As of 2022, The Star Tribune has the largest print circulation in the state. The table below lists these daily newspapers that are printed at least five days a week. Many also have on-line and Facebook sites for interacting with readers and disseminating news. The cities and counties listed are the locations of the newspaper's headquarters. Circulation numbers are the 2022 data in the Minnesota Newspaper Association directory. [5]

The Minnesota Star Tribune, formerly the Minneapolis Star Tribune, is an American daily newspaper based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is Minnesota's largest newspaper and the eighth-largest in the United States by circulation, and is distributed throughout the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area, the state, and the Upper Midwest.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press is a newspaper based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. It serves the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area. Circulation is heaviest in the east metro, including Ramsey, Dakota, and Washington counties, along with western Wisconsin, eastern Minnesota and Anoka County, Minnesota. The paper's main rival is the Star Tribune, based in neighboring Minneapolis. The Pioneer Press is owned by MediaNews Group, controlled by Alden Global Capital. It no longer includes "St. Paul" as part of its name in either its print or online edition, but its owner still lists the paper's name as the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the paper also calls itself the St. Paul Pioneer Press on its Facebook and Twitter pages.
