The Dakota County Tribune is an American English-language weekly newspaper headquartered in Apple Valley, Minnesota, which serves the Apple Valley, Farmington and Rosemount communities in Dakota County. It was founded in 1884. [2] [3]

History

The Dakota County Tribune was founded in Farmington on March 6, 1884, by Clarence P. Carpenter. It launched a free newspaper, ThisWeek, in 1979, which is now called Sun This Week. The headquarters was moved to Burnsville in 1984 and later to Apple Valley where it is now located. It launched its first website in 1997. [3]

The Star Tribune is the largest newspaper in Minnesota. It originated as the Minneapolis Tribune in 1867 and the competing Minneapolis Daily Star in 1920. During the 1930s and 1940s, the two newspapers were consolidated, with the Tribune published in the morning and the Star in the evening. They merged in 1982, creating the Star and Tribune, which was renamed the Star Tribune in 1987. Cedar Avenue is a roadway that runs from Minneapolis to Northfield in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The roadway is known as Minnesota State Highway 77 in the busiest portion of the route, from Minneapolis to Apple Valley. The portions north and south of this are county roads, Hennepin County 152 and Dakota County 23, respectively. Its northern terminus in Minneapolis is at Washington Avenue in Cedar-Riverside, though its alignment is briefly interrupted by an interchange at Hiawatha Avenue to the south.
