Sundar Raj is an Indian actor who predominately works in the Kannada film industry apart from a few Tamil films. Some of his notable films include Tabbaliyu Neenade Magane, Ondanondu Kaladalli, Chandanada Gombe, Kurigalu Saar Kurigalu (2001), Mathadana (2001), Aakasmika (1993).

Sundar Raj [1] has been part of more than 180 movies[ citation needed ] in Kannada. He has served as the Secretary of the Kannada Film Artist Association. [2]

Personal life

Originally from Srirangam, Tamil Nadu, his family moved to Bangalore when he was three years old. [3]

Sundar Raj is married[ citation needed ] to Pramila Joshai, and they have a daughter named Meghana Raj. [6] [7] Both Pramila Joshai and Meghana Raj are Indian film actors in the Kannada film industry, while Meghana [8] has worked mostly in Malayalam and with a few Telugu and Tamil films. Sundar Raj who is Hindu married Joshi who is Catholic despite their families's protests and their daughter was raised for the Catholic and Hindu faiths. they become grandparents of Rayan Raj Sarja.

<i>Giri</i> (film) 2004 Indian film

Giri is a 2004 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film directed and co-written by Sundar C, starring Arjun Sarja, Ramya and Reema Sen, with Devayani, Vadivelu, and Prakash Raj among others enacting supporting roles. The film was released on 1 October 2004 and become a profitable venture at the box office and was remade in Kannada in 2020 as Shivarjuna starring Arjun's nephew Chiranjeevi Sarja. This film is also noted to be actress Khushbu's productional debut in her production company house Avni Cinemax. The film was dubbed into Telugu under the same name.

Bhaskar Chandavarkar was an Indian sitar player, academic and film and theatre composer who worked with well-known directors of Indian cinema like Mrinal Sen, Girish Karnad, Aparna Sen, K. G. Tabbaliyu Neenade Magane or Godhuli is a 1977 Indian drama film co-directed by Girish Karnad and B. V. Karanth, starring Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Maanu, Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah. It is based on the Kannada novel Tabbaliyu Neenade Magane, written by S. L. Byrappa as an allegory for nation-building and the clash of modernity with tradition in rural India. It portrays the story of a modern agriculturist who returns from the US after studying agriculture and brings his American wife to the village. The film won the Filmfare for ‘Best Film’ (Kannada) and Maanu won ‘Best Actor’ (Kannada) at the 25th Filmfare Awards South (1978). The film was made in Hindi and Kannada versions: Godhuli.

It stars Chiranjeevi Sarja and Radhika Kumaraswamy in the lead roles. P. Ravi Shankar, Girish Karnad and Krishna feature in supporting roles. The film tells the story about how Shivaraj (Sarja), a regular man avenges the killing of his brother by the local mafia. The film upon theatrical release on 27 February 2015 received mixed reviews from critics.
