Sundsvall Dragons was a professional Swedish basketball club from Sundsvall. The Dragons made it to the Basketligan Finals four times: in 2005, 2008 and in 2009 and 2011 as winners.

History

The team was one of the oldest in Sweden, as it was founded on May 9, 1939. In 1993 the team promoted to the Basketligan and was named the Sundsvall Dragons.

In 2008, 6-time NBA champion and 7-time All-Star Scottie Pippen played for the team. Pippen, at age 42, played one game for Sundsvall in which he recorded 21 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Pippen was paid $66,000 to play in the game against Akropal. [1]

On 6 May 2016 the club was declared bankrupt. [2]

The 2016–17 Basketligan season was the 24th season of the Basketligan, the top tier basketball league on Sweden. The season started on 6 October 2016 and ended on May 10, 2017. Södertälje Kings was the defending champion after achieving its 11th title in the previous season. BC Luleå won the title after beating the defending champions 4–1 in the Finals.

The 2017–18 Basketligan season was the 25th season of the Basketligan, the top tier basketball league on Sweden. The season started on 6 October 2017 and finished in May 2018. Luleå was the defending champion, but failed to repeat as they lost in the last game of the finals to Norrköping Dolphins, that achieved their fifth title ever.

Köping Basket, also known as The Köping Stars, is a basketball club based in Köping, Sweden. The club was founded in 2003, but changed its name for the men's team to Köping Stars in January 2018. The club plays its home games in the Karlbergshallen. Since the 2018–19 season, Stars plays in the Basketligan, the highest tier of basketball in Sweden.
