The Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Sprint is an American race for thoroughbred horses held in January at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California or at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida as part of the eight-race Sunshine Millions series. Half the eight races of the Sunshine Millions are run at one track and half at the other.

Open to fillies (younger than 5 years) and mares (5 years and older) willing to race six furlongs on the dirt, the Sunshine Millions Fillies & Mares Sprint is a restricted stakes carrying a purse of $150,000.

In its 15th running in 2017, the series of races called the Sunshine Millions is restricted to horses bred in Florida or California and is the brainchild of the Thoroughbred Owners of California, the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association, the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners’ Association, Inc., Santa Anita Park, Gulfstream Park, and Magna Entertainment Corp.

The Sunshine Millions is a series of American races for thoroughbred horses held in January at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California or at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida. The brainchild of prominent horseman Frank Stronach, when it first began, half of the eight Sunshine Millions races are run at one track and half at the other. Beginning in 2012, the revamped version of the Sunshine Millions feature six races at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Florida, exclusively for Florida-breds, with a combined purse of $1.3 million. The series now consists of the:

Groupie Doll is an American Thoroughbred racehorse. A specialist sprinter, she is best known for winning the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint in 2012 and 2013. Unraced as a two-year-old she showed good form as a three-year-old in 2011, winning three races including the Gardenia Stakes. In 2012, she emerged as a world-class sprinter, winning the Madison Stakes, Humana Distaff Handicap, Presque Isle Downs Masters Stakes, and Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes before taking the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. In 2013 she repeated in the Masters Stakes and won a second Breeders' Cup. She was then sold as a prospective broodmare for $3.1 million. Her new owner chose to keep her in training into early 2014, running her against males in the Cigar Mile, and then in the Hurricane Bertie Stakes, where she won the final race of her career, to be retired and become a broodmare.

2016 Breeders Cup

The 2016 Breeders' Cup World Championships was the 33rd edition of the premier event of the North American thoroughbred horse racing year. A total of 185 pre-entries were announced on October 26 in what was considered a highly competitive year in most divisions. The races, all of which were Grade I, took place on November 4 and 5 at Santa Anita Racetrack in Arcadia, California and were telecast by NBC. The Breeders' Cup is generally regarded as the end of the North America racing season, although a few Grade I events take place in later November and December.

Musical Romance was an American National Champion Thoroughbred racemare purchased for $22,000 who is best known for her 2011 win of the $1,000,000 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint hosted that year by Churchill Downs. Ridden by Juan Leyva, she was trained by Bill Kaplan, co-owner with the Pinnacle Racing Stable headed by managing partner Adam Lazarus.
