Supriya Shrinate (born 27 October 1977), also known as Supriya Srinet, [3] is an Indian politician and former journalist who is a national spokesperson for the Indian National Congress. [4] [5] She contested the 2019 Indian general election (Lok Sabha election) from Maharajganj constituency and lost. [6] [7] [8] [9]

Shrinate worked for 18 years as a journalist. She began her career with India Today and later joined NDTV as an assistant editor. She was working as an executive editor for ET Now of The Times Group when she became active in politics. [10] [11] [12] [13]

Early life and education

Shrinate is the daughter of former MP Harsh Vardhan from the Congress. [14] She was educated at the Loreto Convent Lucknow. [15] She then graduated with a Master of Arts in History from the University of Delhi. [16]

Journalism

Shrinate worked for 18 years as a journalist in print and electronic media. In 2001, she began her career with India Today as a special correspondent. In 2004, she joined NDTV as an assistant editor. In 2008, she joined ET Now as chief editor – news. She was named policy editor and executive editor for ET Now the same year. [17]

Politics

In 2019, she resigned from her post as an executive editor in ET Now to contest the 2019 Indian general election. [18] [19] [20] She contested the Maharajganj constituency as an Indian National Congress candidate and lost to Pankaj Choudhary of BJP, coming in third with 72,516 votes and 5.91% of the vote and her deposit was forfeited since she was unable to secure enough votes. [21] This was the same constituency from which her father Harsh Vardhan had earlier been an MP. According to her 2019 Lok Sabha election nomination filing, she has a net worth of 8.5 crores. [22]

In 2019, she was appointed as the spokesperson of the All India Congress Committee. [23] She participated in TV debates as Congress spokesperson. [24] [25] [26]

She also participated in the UP Assembly Elections 2022 as a star campaigner of the Indian National Congress. [27] Congress won only 2% of the popular vote in this election.

In 2022, Shrinate was appointed Chairman of Social Media & Digital Platforms of the Indian National Congress. [28]

Prabhunath Singh is a politician from Bihar, India and was a member of the 12th, 13th and 14th Lok Sabha. Singh represented the Masrakh assembly constituency from 1985 to 1995, and the Maharajganj Lok Sabha constituency of Bihar from 1998 to 2009. In 2013, he won the bypoll and remained as MP until 2014. Singh is a member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

He had also served as MLA twice from Bareilly between 1989 and 1991 and 1993 and 1995. He has also served as minister of state in the government of Uttar Pradesh.

Dilip Singh Gurjar is an Indian politician and member of the Indian National Congress. He was a member of the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly and has been an MLA in Madhya Pradesh for 4 terms, elected in 1993, 2003, 2008 and 2018 from Khachrod and Nagda-Khachrod. In the 2003 election, he had contested as an independent and had defeated both the Congress and BJP candidates in Khachrod. He is seen as an INC leader who has the ability to "turn tables" as he frequently wins in Nagda which is considered to lie within BJP's stronghold region.
