Surahammars IF is a sports club in Surahammar, Sweden. The club was officially founded on 4 June 1914, although the activity started in 1911. The focus now of the club is ice hockey, although they have had the highest success with association football and bandy (reaching the second highest divisions in Sweden). The ice hockey section (Sura Blue Hammers) now plays in the third highest division in Sweden, but has previously played in the first division.[ citation needed ]

Hammarby IF Ishockeyförening was a Stockholm-based professional ice hockey team that for most of its history played in Hovet. Hammarby IF started playing hockey in 1921, playing their first matches using a group of curious bandy players. Hammarby were giants in the early history of Swedish hockey, playing in Sweden's top league from the birth of Swedish organized hockey in 1922 until 1957. During that period, they were crowned Swedish champions eight times in 13 attempts. The rest of their history was more modest, having qualified for play in Elitserien only twice, however during their entire existence, they never played in a lower league than the second tier. As of 2013, five seasons after the club's bankruptcy, Hammarby is 17th in the Marathon standings for the highest division of Swedish ice hockey.

Erik Ronald "Sura-Pelle" Pettersson was a Swedish ice hockey player. He played 252 international games for Sweden between 1955 and 1967, including thirteen World Championships and three Olympic Games. Between 1951 and 1967 Pettersson played for Surahammars IF, Södertälje SK and Västra Frölunda IF. He won the Swedish championship twice, in 1956 with Södertälje and in 1965 with Västra Frölunda. He won Guldpucken in 1959–60 as the most valuable player in Swedish Championship playoffs.

Tranås AIF is a Swedish sports club active in a number of sports including ice hockey. The ice hockey club, Tranås AIF Ishockeyförening, better known as Tranås AIF Hockey, played several season in Sweden's second-highest league, Allsvenskan, but since being relegated in 2003 has played in Division 1, the third tier of ice hockey in Sweden.

Division 2 was the second tier of ice hockey in Sweden for the 1943–44 season. The league was divided into six groups, and the winner of each group was promoted to Division 1 for the 1944–45 season. This change from previous seasons—in which the group winners had played a qualifier which resulted in only two teams being promoted—was prompted from the change in format from the eight-team Svenska Serien to a twelve-team Division 1 following the 1943–44 season. Sandvikens IF, IF Göta, Surahammars IF, IFK Mariefred, Tranebergs IF, and Skuru IK won their groups, and were therefore promoted into the new Division 1.

The 1944–45 season of Division 2, then the second tier of ice hockey in Sweden, consisted of 35 clubs divided into six geographical groups. The six group winners continued to qualifiers for promotion to Division 1 to replace the four teams with the poorest records in the 1944–45 Division 1 season.

The 2014–15 Hockeyettan season was the 16th season that Hockeyettan has functioned as the third tier of ice hockey in Sweden, organized by the Swedish Ice Hockey Association (SIHA). The initial groups began on 21 September 2014 and ended on 10 December 2014. The following Allettan groups and continuation groups started on 27 December 2014 and finished on 15 February 2015. The promotion playoffs to the HockeyAllsvenskan qualifier began on 19 February 2015 and ended on 6–7 March 2015. The Hockeyettan qualifiers began on 1 March 2015 and ended on 25 March 2015. The HockeyAllsvenskan qualifier began on 12 March 2015 and ended on 4 April 2015.

Ove Dahlberg was a Swedish ice hockey and soccer official. Having previously played a forward position in ice hockey, Dahlberg is considered one of the greatest European referees for his ability to read the game. He was inducted posthumously into the IIHF Hall of Fame in 2004 and into the Swedish Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012.
