Suraj Narredu (born 7 February 1985) is an Indian jockey.

Biography

Regarded amongst the top jockeys this country has ever produced, Suraj started riding at the BARI riding school ( which is in no use ) in Bangalore at the young age of 12.

The son of ex jockey, and current trainer, Satish Narredu and nephew of ex jockey and current trainer, Malesh Narredu, Suraj has been exposed to horse racing since he was born. His family nurtured his dream of becoming a professional jockey, and guided him to make a fruitful career out of his passion.

Career

The highlights of Suraj Narredu's career would be when he won the McDowell's Indian Derby in record timing, with Be Safe in 2015. Suraj still maintains that Be Safe is the best horse he has ever ridden.

2014-2015 saw a dream phase for Suraj's career where he won most of the Classic races of the year with three horses, Be Safe, Quasar and Godspeed. Since then Suraj has won the Indian derby thrice with Star Superior(2019), War hammer(2020) and Immortality(2021) . Suraj has garnered International riding experience by doing sort riding stints abroad in riding centres in USA, France, Dubai [1] and most recently, Ireland where he worked alongside world renowned professionals like Aidan O'Brien, Joseph Patrick O'Brien and John Oxx He has won races in Macau, Malaysia and Mauritius where he won the International Jockeys Challenge in 2011.

Gary Lynn Stevens is an American Thoroughbred horse racing jockey, actor, and sports analyst. He became a professional jockey in 1979 and rode his first of three Kentucky Derby winners in 1988. Michael Vincent O'Brien was an Irish race horse trainer from Churchtown, County Cork, Ireland. In 2003 he was voted the greatest influence in horse racing history in a worldwide poll hosted by the Racing Post. In earlier Racing Post polls he was voted the best ever trainer of national hunt and of flat racehorses. He trained six horses to win the Epsom Derby, won three Grand Nationals in succession and trained the only British Triple Crown winner, Nijinsky, since the Second World War. He was twice British champion trainer in flat racing and also twice in national hunt racing; the only trainer in history to have been champion under both rules. Aidan O'Brien took over the Ballydoyle stables after his retirement.

Alex O. Solis is a jockey based in the United States. He lives in Glendora, California and rides predominantly in Southern California. He got his big break and his first gained national prominence when he won the 1986 Preakness Stakes with Snow Chief. Roberto was an American-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. In a career that lasted from 1971 until July 1973, he ran fourteen times and won seven races. He was the best Irish two-year-old of 1971, when his victories included the National Stakes. As a three-year-old, he won the Derby before recording a famous victory over Brigadier Gerard in the inaugural running of the Benson and Hedges Gold Cup. This is regarded by many experts to have been one of the greatest ever performances on a European racecourse. He won the Coronation Cup as a four-year-old before being retired to stud. Anna Rose "Rosie" Napravnik is a former American Thoroughbred horse racing jockey and two-time winner of the Kentucky Oaks. Beginning her career in 2005, she was regularly ranked among the top jockeys in North America in both earnings and total races won. By 2014 she had been in the top 10 by earnings three years in a row and was the highest-ranked woman jockey in North America. In 2011, she won the Louisiana Derby for her first time and was ninth in the 2011 Kentucky Derby with the horse Pants on Fire. Australia is an Irish-bred, Thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning the 2014 Epsom Derby. As a two-year-old in 2013, he won two of his three races, creating a very favourable impression when winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Trial Stakes, and was highly regarded by his trainer Aidan O'Brien. Andrew Mack Garner was an American jockey who won the 1934 Kentucky Derby as well as the 1929 and 1933 Belmont Stakes. He was inducted in the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1969. Mack Garner made his professional racing debut on July 16, 1914, at a Butte, Montana racetrack.

Padraig Beggy is an Irish professional jockey, who won the 2017 Epsom Derby on Wings of Eagles and the 2019 Irish Derby on Sovereign. He is retained by leading trainer Aidan O'Brien.

Emmet McNamara is an Irish jockey who competes in Flat racing. He gained his most notable success to date when riding Serpentine to victory in the 2020 Epsom Derby. It was McNamara's first ride in the race and provided trainer Aidan O'Brien with a record eighth Derby win.
