N.V. Surendra Babu IPS (Born in Donepudi, Guntur dt and his father Janardhana Rao Nimmagadda was a school teacher) was Commissioner of the City of Vijayawada Police between 2001 and 2004. [1] [2] [3] He was promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police in 2007 as reward for his exemplary service.

Between 2006 and 2007, he served as Additional Commissioner of Hyderabad City Police for the Co-ordination Wing. His previous police service was with the Hyderabad City Police as Additional Commissioner of Police for Traffic, and included extensive and varied operational experience in dealing with the city's traffic problems.

At a strategic level he had served as ADGP of OCTOPUS - an elite Counter-terrorist force, and was a member of a small team of senior staff implementing a major restructuring of the Andhra Pradesh Police following the Mecca Masjid bombing in 2008. [4] He was the chief co-ordinator of the drive to check the sale of spurious liquor, working as Director (Enforcement), Prohibition and Excise Department. [5]

As Additional Commissioner of Hyderabad Police for the Co-ordination wing, he initially held the support services portfolio, with responsibility for human resources, finance, information technology and administration of justice. Responsibility for both general and specialist operational matters followed, including management of the territorial divisions, and overall responsibility for partnership activities - working with statutory and voluntary agencies within the city to enhance community safety and crime reduction. [6] His specialist operations role included responsibility for all serious and organised crime investigations, mobile and operational support, forensic science and major incident and emergency response.

He attended the SP Training Course at the National Police Academy, Dehradun, and the Counter-Maoist Course at the Greyhounds Academy, Nallamala. He holds a BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering, and Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering(PGDIE). His B.Tech. was from NIT, Warangal and Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering(PGDIE) was from NITIE, Mumbai. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and was honorary president of the Krishna District Cricket Association (KDCA). [7] He was awarded the Rajeev Service Medal in the 2003 Independence Day's CM Honours list.

The Mecca Masjid blast occurred on 18 May 2007 inside the Mecca Masjid, a mosque located in the old city area of Hyderabad, capital of the Indian state of Telangana located very close to Charminar. The blast was caused by a cellphone-triggered pipe bomb placed near the place where ablutions are performed. Two further live IEDs were found and defused by the police. Sixteen people were reported dead in the immediate aftermath, of whom five were killed by the police firing after the incident while trying to quell the mob.

The Hyderabad bombings refers to the incident in which two bombs exploded almost simultaneously on 25 August 2007 in Hyderabad, capital of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The first bomb exploded in Lumbini Amusement Park at 19:45 hrs IST. The second bomb exploded five minutes later at 19:50 in Gokul Chat Bhandar in Koti, a popular restaurant about 5 kilometres (3 mi) away. At least 42 people were reported to have died in the two bombings. Two more bombs were defused in other parts of the city. According to initial reports, the banned Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami militant outfit of Bangladesh is suspected for the serial blasts.

Azampura, on banks of Musi River, is one of the old neighbourhoods in Hyderabad, India and is close to Dabirpura. Other nearby areas include Saidabad, Chaderghat, Malakpet and Chanchalguda. There were 27,500 residents in Azampura as of 2003. Like many other Old City suburbs it has a majority Muslim population. Also the area is home to the deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Mohammed Mehmood Ali.

V. Dinesh Reddy is an Indian police officer from the state of Andhra Pradesh serving as the Director General of Andhra Pradesh Police. He is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1977 batch of the Andhra Pradesh cadre. He completed his schooling from Hyderabad public school (HPS) and college from Madras Christian College (MCC) and St.Stephens Delhi. Dinesh Reddy joined the Indian Police Service on 30 July 1977 from the Andhra Pradesh Cadre and he retired serving as the Director General of Andhra Pradesh Police in 2013.

Bayyarapu Prasada Rao was an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1979 batch of the state of Andhra Pradesh who served as the Director General (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh Police. He was appointed in charge Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh on 30 September 2013. Earlier he served as the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Abdul Qadeer was a police constable from Hyderabad, Telangana, India, who was given a life sentence after being convicted of killing another police officer ACP Sattaiah during the Babri Masjid demolition riots in 1992. As reported in Hindustan Times in 2017, "He had shot dead Assistant Commissioner of Police Sattaiah at Chhatrinaka police station of the old city from his service weapon, during the peak of communal riots, in which 200 people were killed. Dr. YSR Aarogyasri is an upgradation of Andhra Pradesh's government healthcare scheme Aarogyasri which was launched by the late chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy in 2007. The scheme has been revamped into Dr. YSR Aarogyasri by chief minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in January, 2020 upgrading the scheme by adding new benefits to it.

HJ Dora is a 1965 batch IPS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre, the former Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh and former Vigilance Commissioner, Government of India. Dora joined the Indian Police Service in 1965 and was allotted to Andhra Pradesh Cadre. After serving as an additional D.G. of Police (C.I.D.), in Andhra Pradesh, he was promoted to the Director General of Police for the State in 1996. In 2002 he went on deputation as Director General of Police to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in New Delhi. He also served as the president of Indian Olympic Weight Lifting Association and was also the Chef-de-mission of the Indian contingent to the 2006 Commonwealth Games. In 1993, Dora was one of the 40-odd policemen marked for death by the People's War Group (PWG).

Harish Kumar Gupta, IPS, is Principal Secretary (Home), Government of Andhra Pradesh. He belongs to the 1992 batch of the Indian Police Service. Harish Kumar Gupta hails from Jammu and Kashmir (state). His career spanning over three decades began in the Nineties in Undivided Andhra Pradesh. After the bifurcation of the state in 2014, he was retained in the residuary Andhra Pradesh.
