N.V. Surendra Babu IPS was Commissioner of the City of Vijayawada Police between 2001 and 2004. [1] [2] [3] He was promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police in 2007 as reward for his exemplary service.

Between 2006 and 2007, he served as Additional Commissioner of Hyderabad City Police for the Co-ordination Wing. His previous police service was with the Hyderabad City Police as Additional Commissioner of Police for Traffic, and included extensive and varied operational experience in dealing with the city's traffic problems.

At a strategic level he had served as ADGP of OCTOPUS - an elite Counter-terrorist force, and was a member of a small team of senior staff implementing a major restructuring of the Andhra Pradesh Police following the Mecca Masjid bombing in 2008. [4] He was the chief co-ordinator of the drive to check the sale of spurious liquor, working as Director (Enforcement), Prohibition and Excise Department. [5]

As Additional Commissioner of Hyderabad Police for the Co-ordination wing, he initially held the support services portfolio, with responsibility for human resources, finance, information technology and administration of justice. Responsibility for both general and specialist operational matters followed, including management of the territorial divisions, and overall responsibility for partnership activities - working with statutory and voluntary agencies within the city to enhance community safety and crime reduction. [6] His specialist operations role included responsibility for all serious and organised crime investigations, mobile and operational support, forensic science and major incident and emergency response.

He attended the SP Training Course at the National Police Academy, Dehradun, and the Counter-Maoist Course at the Greyhounds Academy, Nallamala. He holds a BTech degree in Mechanical Engineering, and Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering(PGDIE). His B.Tech. was from NIT, Warangal and Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering(PGDIE) was from NITIE, Mumbai. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and was honorary president of the Krishna District Cricket Association (KDCA). [7] He was awarded the Rajeev Service Medal in the 2003 Independence Day's CM Honours list.

The Mecca Masjid blast occurred on 18 May 2007 inside the Mecca Masjid, a mosque located in the old city area of Hyderabad, capital of the Indian state of Telangana located very close to Charminar. The blast was caused by a cellphone-triggered pipe bomb placed near the site designated for ablution. Two further live IEDs were found and defused by the police. Sixteen people were reported dead in the immediate aftermath, of whom five were killed by the police firing after the incident while trying to quell the mob angered by what they considered police failure to protect the Muslims during their worship.

The Hyderabad bombings refers to the incident in which two bombs exploded almost simultaneously on 25 August 2007 in Hyderabad, capital of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The first bomb exploded in Lumbini Amusement Park at 19:45 hrs IST. The second bomb exploded five minutes later at 19:50 in Gokul Chat Bhandar in Koti, a popular restaurant about 5 kilometres (3 mi) away. At least 42 people were reported to have died in the two bombings. Two more bombs were defused in other parts of the city. According to initial reports, the banned Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami militant outfit of Bangladesh is suspected for the serial blasts.

2008 Bangalore serial blasts occurred on 25 July 2008 in Bangalore, India. A series of nine bombs exploded in which 1 person was killed and 20 injured. According to the Bangalore City Police, the blasts were caused by low-intensity crude bombs triggered by timers.

Dora joined the Indian Police Service in 1965 and was allotted to Andhra Pradesh Cadre. After serving as an additional D.G. of Police (C.I.D.), in Andhra Pradesh, he was promoted to the Director General of Police for the State in 1996. In 2002 he went on deputation as Director General of Police to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in New Delhi. He also served as the president of Indian Olympic Weight Lifting Association and was also the Chef-de-mission of the Indian contingent to the 2006 Commonwealth Games. In 1993, Dora was one of the 40-odd policemen marked for death by the People's War Group (PWG).

Harish Kumar Gupta, IPS, is principal secretary (home), government of Andhra Pradesh. He belongs to the 1992 batch of the Indian Police Service. Harish Kumar Gupta hails from Jammu and Kashmir (state). His career spanning over three decades began in the nineties in Undivided Andhra Pradesh. After the bifurcation of the state in 2014, he was retained in the residuary Andhra Pradesh.
