Surendra Singh Patel is an Indian politician from Uttar Pradesh. He was Member of the Legislative Assembly from Sevapuri constituency seat in Varanasi. Patel was appointed state minister of public works and irrigation department in the present government of Uttar Pradesh. [1] He has been given responsibility by Samajwadi Party to fight lok sabha elections on Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency against incumbent Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi.
The Samajwadi Party is a socialist political party in India. It was founded on 4 October 1992 by former Janata Dal politician Mulayam Singh Yadav and is headquartered in New Delhi. The Samajwadi Party is currently led by former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh,Akhilesh Yadav. As of 2024,it is currently the third-largest political party in India,and the largest party in Uttar Pradesh.

In addition to the major national parties,other national and regional parties such as Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK),Shiromani Akali Dal,Shiv Sena,Samajwadi Party,Rashtriya Janata Dal,Janata Dal Secular,Jharkhand Mukti Morcha,Kerala Congress,Jammu &Kashmir National Conference,Indian Union Muslim League,AIMIM,and the Nationalist Congress Party are all dominated by families,mostly those of the party founders.
