Surinder Mehta is an Indian entrepreneur, business person, and the founder of Prime Group, a technology-based conglomerate with a number of subsidiaries which include PCI Limited, Planet PCI Infotech Limited, Prime Electric Limited, Prime Power Corporation Limited and Endolite India Limited. [1] [2] Reported to be a self-made business person, he founded the group in 1986 with the first company, PCI Limited, and has been heading the Group since then. [3] The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2009, for his contributions to Indian industry. [4]

Biography

Mehta was born on 3 August 1956 in the Indian capital of New Delhi and did his early education at Modern School, Delhi, before graduating in Commerce with honours from the Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi. [1] At the start of his career, he introduced modern technologies in power distribution sector, such as van-mounted remote fault detection system, which eliminated time-consuming manpower involvement. He is the founder of ISHWAR, a non governmental organization engaged in charitable activities and Endolite India, a chain of centres providing Prosthetic and Orthotic services. [1]

Mehta is recipient of the honours such as PHDCCI Distinguished Entrepreneurship Award, Udyog Rattan Award, Priyadarshini Indira Gandhi Award, Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award, Rattan Shiromani Award, and National Business Leadership Award. [5] He received the civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2009. [4] He is married to Archna Mehta and the couple has a son, Rohan Mehta, and a daughter, Sneha Mehta. [6]

Surinder Kumar Sama is an Indian gastroenterologist, known for his expertise in endocrinology and diabetology. He is considered by many as the Father of Gastroenterology in India. The discovery of Non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis, an idiopathic chronic liver disease is attributed to him, which he described in a 1962 medical paper, co-authored with Ramalingaswami and Wig. The Government of India awarded him the civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2004 for his pioneering research on liver diseases including Non-cirrhotic portal fibrosis and Hepatitis B. Sama also received the highest Indian medical honour of Dr. B. C. Roy Award in 2004.

Raman Kapur is an Indian medical acupuncturist, author and the president of the Indian Society of Medical Acupuncture. He heads the Department of Acupuncture at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi and chairs the Institute of Acupuncture and Natural Medicines, an institution which runs acupuncture courses in affiliation with the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. He is the author of three books on acupuncture; A Guide to Acupuncture and Tissue Cleansing System, Soft Lasers in Medical Practice and Acupuncture — Cure for Common Diseases and is a collaborator of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for a postgraduate diploma course in acupuncture (PGDACP).

Govind Ram Nirmalkar (1935–2014) was an Indian actor and folk theatre artist, known for his contributions to the Nacha folk theatre of Chhattisgarh. His portrayal of the protagonist in Charan Das Chor, an award winning play by Habib Tanveer, won him critical acclaim. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2009, for his contributions to Arts. He was also a recipient of the 2012 Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

Arvind Lal is an Indian billionaire, pathologist, medical administrator and the chairman and managing director of Dr Lal PathLabs, a medical diagnostic centre in Delhi. A medical graduate and a medical academic, he is reported to have modernized Indian medical diagnostics and initiated the first Public Private Partnership (PPP) in the field of laboratory testing in India. He holds the rank of a Brigadier in the Indian Armed Forces, an honorary rank conferred by the Army. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2009, for his contributions to Medicine.

D. S. Rana is an Indian nephrologist and the Chairman of the Department of Nephrology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, known for his proficiency in renal transplant procedures. Born in Dasmal, Hamirpur in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, he graduated in medicine from the Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla and did his advanced training in clinical nephrology at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh. He is an international scholar of the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio and is a member of the Board of Management of the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Parvati Education and Health Society, an organization founded by Rana operates a small 5-bedded hospital in his native village of Dasmal for the rural poor. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri in 2009, for his contributions to Medicine. He is the first Himachal Pradesh resident awarded Padma Shri.

Sheesh Ram is an ex-soldier of the Indian Army and a painter specialising in depicting themes like national integration, women empowerment, Indian warfare, terrorist attacks in India and the world. After 40 years of service in the Indian Army he retired in the year 2007. While he was in service and also after retirement he has been creating paintings on various themes like battle scenes, patriotism and soldiers' sacrifices. Many of his paintings have been installed in the Art Gallery of the Army. He had also conducted an exhibition of his paintings in Dubai. He has also designed many medals for the Army. Medals designed by him are still used for conferring Army, Air Force, Navy and Paramilitary honours. In the year 2022, Govt of India honoured Sheesh Ram by conferring the Padma Shri award for his contributions to art.
