Critical reception was generally favourable. Simon Sweetman was the most enthusiastic, calling it "their third best record". [4] Graham Reid of the New Zealand Herald criticised the unevenness of the album, with highlights such the title track and "Big Black Bus" equalled by the low point of "De Dog". However, he noted that even the band's albums considered classics were similarly inconsistent and that when the album "locks into place, that old acidic-but-sentimental magic remains mercifully untarnished." Briolette Kah Bic Runga, recording as Bic Runga, is a New Zealand singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist pop artist. Her first three studio albums debuted at number one on the New Zealand Top 40 Album charts. Love in Motion is the fourth studio album by New Zealand singer-songwriter Anika Moa. The album's underlying theme is love. Moa's civil partner, Azaria Universe, was her biggest influence when writing the album. With Love in Motion, Moa moved from the folk and country pop influences of In Swings the Tide to a pop rock sound. The album was released by EMI Records internationally on 12 March 2010, with releases in Moa's home country and Australia following on 5 April and 10 September, respectively. Moa toured Westfield malls the week of the album's release, and a concert tour followed in May and June 2010.
"Blue Lady" is a song released by the band Hello Sailor in 1977 as part of their Hello Sailor album which was the first New Zealand made album to be certified gold, with the top single being Blue Lady. The song is written by the guitarist and lead vocalist Graham Brazier. It reached number thirteen on the New Zealand Singles Charts. This was the band's first album, and featured the line-up of 1975-1980 members Graham Brazier, Dave McArtney, Harry Lyon, Lisle Kinney and Ricky Ball. The band were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of fame at the APRA Awards in 2011.

Delaney Davidson is a singer-songwriter from Lyttelton, New Zealand. He is known for his musical production, guitar work, and being a multi-instrumentalist. Besides his music, Davidson is also involved in graphics, visual art, theatre, and films. He usually performs solo with his Ghost Orchestra but has collaborated with various projects. Davidson's musical style is influenced by folk, Noise music, rock, and country, while being firmly rooted in the blues.
