Suryakant Dhasmana (born 5 February 1964 at Dehradun) is an Indian politician . Vice President of Uttrakhand Pradesh Congress His school education was held at St. Joseph Academy, Dehradun. He graduated from DBS College, Dehradun with post graduation from DAV (PG) College, Dehradun.
Dhasmana was a Candidate of Indian National Congress from Dehradun Cantonment Constituency in the 2017 Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly election. he was the chairman of Vinod Bharatwal Committee which led the master plan of making of state Uttarakhand and that recommendations played important role in formation of Uttarakhand.

Dehradun is the largest and most populated city in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is the administrative headquarters of the eponymous district and is governed by the Dehradun Municipal Corporation, with the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly holding its winter sessions in the city as its winter capital. Part of the Garhwal region, and housing the headquarters of its Divisional Commissioner, it lies along National Highway 7 with the distance of 248 km (154 mi) north of India's capital New Delhi and is well-connected with a rail line and the airport. Dehradun is one of the "Counter Magnets" of the National Capital Region (NCR) being developed as an alternative centre of growth to help ease the migration and population explosion in the Delhi metropolitan area and to establish a smart city in the Himalayas. It is the third largest city in the Himalayas after Kathmandu and Srinagar.

Uttarakhand became a state on 9 November 2000. The formation of Uttarakhand was achieved after a long struggle and many sacrifices. The demand to make Uttarakhand a state was first raised at a special session of the Indian National Congress held in Srinagar on 5-6 May 1938. The demand gradually strengthened following a series of events. In 1994, the demand for a separate state eventually took the form of mass movement that resulted in the formation of India's 27th state by 2000.
