The Dehradun Municipal Corporation is the civic or urban local body [1] [2] that governs the city of Dehradun in Uttarakhand, India. It is essentially the city government and differs from the MDDA (Mussoorie Dehradun Development Board), which is a state run organisation.
This corporation consists of 100 wards and is headed by a mayor who presides over a deputy mayor and 99 other corporators representing the wards. The mayor is elected directly through a first-past-the-post voting system and the deputy mayor is elected by the corporators from among their numbers. [3]
The Corporation is composed of elected officials like the mayor and corporator, administrative officials, [4] like the Municipal Commissioner (also known as Chief Executive Officer) and technical officers who have expertise in various domains.
Prior to December 2003 this body was known as Dehradun Municipal Council and after revamping the municipality the Dehradun Municipal Corporation came into existence in 2003.[ citation needed ]

Kanpur ( ), formerly anglicized as Cawnpore, is the second largest city of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh(First Largest City of Uttar Pradesh as per Kanpur Nagar Nigam). It was the primary financial and commercial centre of Northern India. Dehradun, also known as Dehra Doon, is the winter capital and the most populous city of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is the civic body that governs the inner limits of Pune, India. It is in charge of the civic needs and infrastructure of the metropolis, which is spread over an area of 500 sq. km. and has 3.4 million residents. Established on 15 February 1950, the executive power of the PMC is vested in the Municipal Commissioner, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer appointed by the Government of Maharashtra. The PCMC headquarters is situated on the Old Pune Mumbai Highway alongside the freeway in the city of Pune.

The Mohali Municipal Corporation, also known as Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar, is the civic body that governs the planned city of Mohali in Punjab, India. Mohali is also the headquarters of the Mohali district. There are 50 wards of the city. There was 60.48% voter turnout in first election held on 22 February 2015.
Ranchi Municipal Corporation is responsible for the civic administration of the city of Ranchi. It was established in 1979 in erstwhile Bihar and is presently the biggest municipality in Jharkhand. It has 50 members elected with a first-past-the-post voting system and 1 ex-officio member which is MLA for Batala. In 2019 Government of Punjab decided to upgrade Batala Municipal council into Municipal Corporation, earlier it was a municipal council.
