Susan Mnumzana

Susan Kelisaletse Mnumzana is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly and Free State Provincial Legislature. She also served in the Free State Executive Council between 2005 and 2008 under Premier Beatrice Marshoff.

Legislative career

In the 1999 general election, Mnumzana was elected to an ANC seat in the National Assembly. [1] [2] Years later, during investigations into the Travelgate scandal, Mnumzana admitted to a liquidation inquiry that she owed R2,238 to a travel agency, Bathong, where she had redeemed parliamentary travel vouchers during her time as an MP. [3] The liquidators' attorneys investigated her further, finding that she had not accounted for a much larger sum in air tickets. [3] [4]

In the 2004 general election, Mnumzana was elected to a seat in the Free State Provincial Legislature, ranked sixth on the ANC's provincial party list. [5] In April 2005, she was additionally appointed to the Free State Executive Council when Premier Beatrice Marshoff named her as Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Arts and Culture. [6] In a further reshuffle in August 2007, she was moved to a new portfolio as MEC for Agriculture; [7] Mamiki Qabathe replaced her in that post in 2008. [8] However, Mnumzana was re-elected to the provincial legislature in the 2009 general election, ranked 20th on the ANC's provincial party list. [9]

Mmaphefo Lucy "Wendy" Matsemela is a South African politician who was Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education in the North West from May 2019 to December 2022. She represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the National Assembly from 2004 to 2009 and in the North West Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2022. While in the provincial legislature, she served almost continuously in the North West Executive Council, excepting two gaps from 2010 to 2013 and from 2016 to 2018. She resigned from the provincial legislature in December 2022 after Premier Bushy Maape fired her as an MEC.

Seiso Joel Mohai is a South African politician who is currently the Chief Whip of the Majority Party in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP). He was first elected to that position after the 2014 general election and he represents the African National Congress. He formerly served in both the National Assembly and the Free State Provincial Legislature, and he was a Member of the Free State Executive Council from 2004 to 2013.

Zanele Dlungwana is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State Provincial Legislature. She also served in the Free State Executive Council under Premier Beatrice Marshoff.

Ndleleni Moses Duma was a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the North West Provincial Legislature until his death in 2018. He also served in the National Assembly between 2009 and 2014. He was a Member of the North West Executive Council from 2004 to 2009 during the premiership of Edna Molewa; during the same period, he was convicted on theft charges in connection with his involvement in the Travelgate scandal during an earlier period of service in the national Parliament.

Anna Buthelezi, formerly known as Anna Buthelezi-Phori, is a South African politician who represented the African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State Provincial Legislature and Free State Executive Council. She is also a former Deputy Provincial Secretary of the ANC's Free State branch.
