Susanne Regel (born 1974) is a German oboist working as solo artist and with international ensembles. She specializes in baroque oboe, the classical oboe, and the romantic oboe. Regel also teaches at several universities in Germany. [1]

Education

Regel started playing woodwind instruments as a child and began an intensive study of the recorder, modern oboe and also historical oboe when in school. In 1993, Regel made it to the semi-final of the international MAfestival Brugge (Musica Antiqua Bruges) competition in Bruges. She was the youngest participant of the competition.[ citation needed ] In 2001 she completed her studies of the historical oboe under Ku Ebbinge, and the recorder under Sebastien Marc at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague.[ citation needed ]

Career

Regel has made more than 50 radio, CD and DVD recordings. [2] A noteworthy achievement is her participation in the complete recording of the Bach cantatas under J.E. Gardiner with the English Baroque Soloists in 2000.,. [3] [4]

In 1995 she was appointed solo oboe of the internationally acclaimed ensemble Musica Antiqua Köln under Reinhard Goebel.[ citation needed ]

Teaching

Regel teaches the historical oboe at the Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe, [5] and at the “Staatliche Hochschule für Musik” in Trossingen. [6] She also teaches in international Masterclasses in Essen, Minsk, St. Petersburg, Los Angeles and Washington.

Ralf Otto is a German conductor, especially known as a choral conductor and academic teacher. He founded the Vokalensemble Frankfurt, focused on contemporary music and winning competitions including Let the Peoples Sing. Since 1986, he has been director of the Bachchor Mainz, with a tradition of performing Bach cantatas in broadcast church services. He added late romantic and contemporary works to their repertoire and made international tours with them. They made world premiere recordings of some cantatas by Bach's oldest son, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, among other recordings. Otto was professor of choral conducting at the Folkwang Hochschule from 1990 to 2006, when he took the same position at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz.

He has been concertmaster for the ensemble Concerto Köln beginning in 2015, and has lectured Baroque violin at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen from 2018.
