Susie Palfreyman (born 11 Feb 1952) is an Australian former representative rowing coxswain. She was a five time national champion, a representative at World Championships and in 1980 was a member of Australia's first Olympic representative women's rowing crew.
Susie Palfreyman commenced her senior rowing with the University of Western Australia Boat Club. Later she rowed with the Melbourne University Ladies Boat Club and Mercantile Rowing Club. [1]
She first made state selection for Western Australia in 1973. [1] In 1976 and 1977 she coxed West Australian state women's fours contesting the ULVA Trophy at the Interstate Regatta. [1] By 1978 she had relocated to Victoria and the Melbourne University Boat Club. She coxed Victorian women's crews which won the ULVA Trophy in 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1983. [1]
Palfreyman was in the stern of the 1979 Australian champion Victorian women's four selected to contest the 1979 World Rowing Championships in Bled. They rowed to a fifth place. [2] That same crew stayed together into the 1980 Olympic year and coached by Susie's husband David Palfreyman, they were selected as the first Australian women's Olympian crew, racing as a coxed four at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. Crewed by Sally Harding, Anne Chirnside, Pam Westendorf and Verna Westwood they again finished in fifth place. [2]
Palfreyman was the inaugural President of the WA Women’s Rowing Association in 1972. She was President of the University of Western Australia Ladies’ Rowing Club from 1973 to 1974 and President of Melbourne University Ladies’ Rowing Club in 1980. [1] Susie was also founding President of the Head of the Schoolgirls, the largest single sex regatta in the southern hemisphere.
Kate Elizabeth Slatter OAM is an Australian former rower, a sixteen time national champion, world champion and Olympic champion from Adelaide, South Australia. She is a three-time Olympian who in 1996 won Australia's first Olympic gold in women's rowing.
The Australian Rowing Championships is an annual rowing event that determines Australia's national rowing champions and facilitates selection of Australian representative crews for World Championships and the Olympic Games. It is Australia's premier regatta, with states, clubs and schools sending their best crews. The Championships commence with the National Regatta - men's, women's and lightweight events in open, under 23, under 19, under 17 and school age events. Rowers at the National Regatta race in their local club colours with composite crews permitted. The Championships conclude with the Interstate Regatta - currently eight events competed by state representative crews or scullers selected by the state rowing associations. The states compete for an overall points tally which decides the Zurich Cup.
Brett Hayman is an Australian three time world champion, a dual Olympian and an Australian national champion rowing coxswain. He won a silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics steering the Australian men's eight. He coxed Australian crews at every premier world rowing regatta from 1993 to 2000.
Susan Claire Chapman is an Australian former national representative and Olympic rower. She represented Australia at the World Rowing Championships, winning medals at both the Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games. A national and Commonwealth Games champion, she won a bronze medal in the coxed four at the 1984 Summer Olympics, rowing in the three seat. It was Australia's first Olympic medal in women's rowing.

Catriona Sens is an Australian former representative rower. She was a national champion, an underage 2002 world champion, a dual Olympian and won a silver medal at the 2006 World Rowing Championships. She rowed in the Australian women's eight at the 2004 Athens Olympics and in the double scull at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Elizabeth "Lizzy" Patrick is an Australian rowing coxswain – a national champion, world champion and a dual Olympian. From 2005 to 2014 she was the prominent coxswain in Australian women's rowing, steering every Australian representative senior women's eight raced at a premier international regatta in that decade.
Paul Anthony Thompson MBE is an Australian elite level rowing coach and former rower. As a rower he was an Australian under-age champion, won a silver medal at the 1985 U23 World Championships and rowed in senior King's Cup eights for both South Australia and New South Wales. He has coached Australian and British crews to World Championship titles and Olympic medals including taking Kate Slatter and Megan Still to Australia's first women's Olympic rowing gold at Atlanta 1996. By 2012 he was Great Britain's head coach for women and lightweights and took British crews to three gold and two silver medals at London 2012. Since 2022 he has been Rowing Australia's High Performance Director.
Pamela Westendorf is an Australian former representative rower. She won twenty-three Australian national championships, was an Olympian, represented at five World Championships over a twelve-year period and won a silver medal at the 1990 World Rowing Championships.
Vaughan Bollen is an Australian former lightweight rower. He is from a prominent South Australian rowing family, was a seven-time Australian national champion and won a bronze medal at the 1978 World Rowing Championships. He competed over an eighteen-year period in events at the annual Interstate Regatta within the Australian Rowing Championships firstly as a South Australian King's Cup coxswain from 1961, then as a South Australian Presidents Cup rower from 1967 and finally till 1979, as a Victorian state representative President's Cup rower.
Anna Ozolins is an Australian former rower. She is a four-time national champion and an Australian representative oarswoman who won a bronze medal at the 1994 World Rowing Championships. She was the stroke of the Australian women's heavyweight eight from 1994 to 1995 and from 1998 to 1999.

Sally Harding is an Australian former representative rower. She was a thirteen time Australian national champion, three time representative at World Rowing Championships and was a member of Australia's first Olympic representative women's rowing crew, competing in the women's coxed four event at the 1980 Summer Olympics.
Jacqui Marshall is an Australian former representative rower. She was a fourteen-time Australian national champion, represented at the 1981 World Championships and competed in the women's single sculls event at the 1984 Summer Olympics.
