Suzanne Al Houby is a Palestinian mountaineer. On May 21, 2011, she became the first Arab woman to climb Mount Everest and the seven Summits. [1] [2] [3] [4] She was also the first Arab woman to climb many other mountains, including Mont Blanc, Elbrus, Aconcagua, Vinson, Denali, and Carstensz Pyramid. [5] [6]
Al Hobby became climbing in the late 1990s. [7] She became interested in climbing Everest after meeting Zed Al Refai, the first Arab man to climb the mountain, in 2002. In May 2003, she took her first expedition to Everest, becoming the first Arab woman to reach Everest Base Camp and Kala Pattar. [8] [9] She used the excursion to raise funds for a UAE healthcare initiative. [9]
In 2006, she raised funds for Lebanese Palestinian refugee camps during an expedition to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, where she reached the summit of Toubkal, the highest peak in the region. [9]
Al Houby and her family are from Jaffa, a port city currently a part of Tel Aviv, Israel. [8] She got her higher education in the United States, and has lived most of her life in the United Arab Emirates. [10] She is the founder and CEO of the adventure travel company Rahhalah. [7] [11]
She has two children. [9] As of 2010, she and her children lived in Dubai, and she worked as vice-president of the Dubai Bone and Joint Centre. [12]
The Seven Summits are the highest mountains on each of the seven traditional continents. On 30 April 1985, Richard Bass became the first climber to reach the summit of all seven.

Jane Lee Zhen Zhen is a mountaineer and speaker from Singapore. Co-founder and co-team leader of the Singapore Women's Everest Team, Lee is also the first female from Southeast Asia and the 37th woman in history to have scaled the Seven Summits, the highest peaks of the seven continents including Kilimanjaro, Denali, Elbrus, Aconcagua, Vinson and Everest (Chomolungma).
Raha Moharrak is the youngest Arab and the first Saudi woman to climb Mount Everest. Previously she climbed Kilimanjaro, Mount Vinson, Mount Elbrus, Aconcagua, Kala Pattar, Pico de Orizaba and Tajamulco.

Samina Khayal Baig is a Pakistani mountaineer who climbed Mount Everest in 2013, all Seven Summits by 2014, and K2 in 2022. She is the first Pakistani woman to climb Everest, K2 and the Seven Summits. She climbed Mt. Everest at the age of 21.
Arunima Sinha is an Indian mountaineer and sportswoman. She is India's first female amputee and world's second female amputee to scale Mount Everest (Asia), Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa), Mount Elbrus (Europe), Mount Kosciuszko (Australia), Aconcagua, Denali and Vinson Massif (Antarctica). She is also a seven time Indian volleyball player. Before Arunima, Rhonda Graham from USA world's first female amputee climbed Mount Everest in October 2011.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Thani, known as Moe Al Thani, is a Qatari-Emirati sheikh, philanthropist and sportsman. He is the first Qatari to have climbed Mount Everest and the Seven Summits, the South Pole as well as Ama Dablam and also the president of the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.
Silvia Vasquez-Lavado is a Peruvian-American mountaineer, author, social entrepreneur and technologist. In June 2016, she became the first Peruvian woman to summit Mount Everest and the first openly gay woman to complete the Seven Summits, the tallest mountain on each continent from both the Messner and Bass lists.
Fatima Deryan is a Kuwaiti-born Lebanese mountaineer and activist, who currently lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She is the first Lebanese woman to summit the Mount Everest which she achieved it in 2019. A year which marked many deadliest Mount Everest expeditions.
Joyce Azzam is a Lebanese mountaineer born on June 24, 1984. Azzam holds the record of being the only Lebanese woman to complete the Seven Summits. She graduated with a Ph.D. in landscape and environment from the Sapienza University of Rome. Azzam now runs an NGO called MounTurtle. She is the first Lebanese woman and one of the few Arab women to complete the Seven Summits after reaching the top Everest in May 2019.
Dolores Al Shelleh is a Jordanian-Serbian mountaineer with Palestinian roots father side. She is an ESG Activist who currently lives in Dubai, UAE. She was the first woman from Jordan to summit the Mount Everest, which she achieved in 2019, a year which marked many deadly Mount Everest expeditions.
SheikhaAsma Al Thani is a Qatari mountaineer who is the first Qatari woman to summit Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Manaslu, K2 as well as the first Qatari female to climb Ama Dablam. She is also the first Qatari person to ski to the North Pole. On her ascent of Manaslu, she became the first Arab person to summit an eight-thousander without oxygen. She climbed Lhotse for the second time in May 2024, without the use of supplemental oxygen, becoming the first Arab to climb two 8000er without supplemental oxygen. She is Director of Marketing and Communications for the Qatar Olympic Committee. She is also a member of the ruling family of Qatar.
Fahad Abdulrahman Badar (born 1979) is a Qatari banker & mountaineer. He is the first Arab to summit Mount Everest and Lhotse, in a single expedition.
Nelly Attar is a mountaineer from Lebanon/Saudi Arabia who in 2022, became the first Arab woman to summit K2. Nelly is a former psychologist. She has an MRes in psychology and has worked four years as a therapist, prior to shifting into sports.
Nadhira Al Harthy or Nadhira Alharthy is an Omani civil servant and mountaineer. She was the second person from Oman, and the first Omani woman, to climb Mount Everest. She has also summitted several other eight-thousander peaks, including Manaslu, K2, and Nanga Parbat.
