The history of anime in the United States began in 1961, when Magic Boy and The Tale of the White Serpent became the first and second anime to receive documented releases in the country. Anime has since found success with a growing audience in the region, with Astro Boy often being noted as the first anime to receive widespread syndication, especially in the United States. Additionally, anime's growth in popularity in the US during the 1990s, commonly referred to as the "anime boom," is credited with much of anime's enduring relevance to popular culture outside Japan. While anime has commonly been distributed illegally by pirates and fansubbers in the past via bootleg releases, especially in the 1990s and early 2000s, and continues to be on torrent sites and bootleg streaming avenues, the popularity of such practices has drastically decreased due to the advent of legal streaming services such as Crunchyroll which simulcast new anime series, often within a few hours of their domestic release.
4Kids Entertainment, Inc. was an American licensing company. The company was previously also a film and television production company that produced English-dubbed Japanese anime through its subsidiary 4Kids Productions between 1992 and 2012; it specialized in the acquisition, production and licensing of children's entertainment around the United States. The first anime that 4Kids Productions dubbed was the first eight seasons of Pokémon that originally began airing on first run syndication and then it later moved to exclusively air on Kids' WB! in the United States. The company is most well known for its range of television licenses, which has included the multibillion-dollar Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh! Japanese anime franchises. They also ran two program blocks: Toonzai on The CW, and 4Kids TV on Fox, both aimed at children. The 4KidsTV block ended on December 27, 2008, while its Toonzai block ended on August 18, 2012, which was replaced by Saban's Vortexx, which in itself was succeeded by Litton's One Magnificent Morning in 2014.
Kathleen Charlotte McInerney, also known by her stage name Veronica Taylor, is an American voice actress known for her dubbing work in English-language adaptations of Japanese anime, in particular for voicing Ash Ketchum and his mother Delia in the Pokémon anime for its first eight seasons. Other voices she has done include Amelia Wil Tesla Seyruun from Slayers, Sailor Pluto from Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal, Nico Robin in the 4Kids dub of One Piece, April O'Neil in the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and has voiced video game characters like Cosmos from Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy, Dissidia Final Fantasy, and Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. Additionally, using her real name, she is a narrator for various audio books, such as the fourth arc from the Warriors series.
Lisa Ortiz is an American voice actress and voice director. She is best known for her roles in English anime adaptations, such as Lina Inverse in Slayers and Amy Rose in Sonic X. She voiced Amy Rose in the mainline and spin-off Sonic the Hedgehog video games from 2005 to 2010. She's also the voice director for the English dub of the Pokémon anime in addition to performing various roles since the first season. In 2021, she reprised Tao Jun in the Netflix anime Shaman King.
Tara Jayne Sands is an American voice actress and co-host of Cartoon Network's Fridays from 2005 to 2007. Sands has voiced in anime dubs and cartoons, including Bulbasaur in the Pokémon anime series, Spyler in the US dub of I Spy, Kari Kamiya in Digimon Adventure tri., Anna Kyoyama in Shaman King, Mokuba Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, as well as Chase on Fighting Foodons and Filia Ul Copt in Slayers. She also provides narration on audio books.
Madeleine Joan Blaustein, also known as Kendra Bancroft, was an American voice actress and comic writer who was known for her voice acting work for 4Kids Entertainment, DuArt Film and Video and NYAV Post, for her reprising role as the character Meowth from the Pokémon anime series and for comics written for Milestone Comics, in which she introduced one of superhero comics' first transgender female characters. She was the first intersex and transgender voice artist for many of her respective agencies.
Michael Tremain Sinterniklaas is a French voice actor, ADR director and script writer who has provided voices for a number of English language versions of Japanese anime films and television series, as well as cartoons and video games. He has worked for Funimation, Studiopolis, Konami Cross Media NY, Central Park Media, Bandai Entertainment, Viz Media and Media Blasters. He is the founder and owner of NYAV Post, a Bi-coastal studio located in New York City and Los Angeles, which dubbed many different anime titles and recorded several original prelay works.
VIZ Media LLC is an American entertainment company headquartered in San Francisco, California, focused on publishing manga, distribution and licensing Japanese anime, films, and television series. It was founded in 1986 as VIZ LLC. In 2005, VIZ LLC and ShoPro Entertainment merged to form the current VIZ Media LLC, which is owned by Japanese publishing conglomerates Shueisha and Shogakukan, as well as Japanese production company Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions (ShoPro). In 2017, Viz Media was the largest publisher of graphic novels in the United States, with a 23% share of the market.

She is best known as the voice of Sora Takenouchi in the Digimon anime, Jazz Fenton in Danny Phantom, Wasp in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Ino Yamanaka and Konohamaru Sarutobi in the Naruto anime. Since 2014, O'Shaughnessey has been the voice of Miles "Tails" Prower in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, a role she reprised in its first two live-action film adaptations.
James Hadley Snyder, known professionally as Dan Green, is an American voice actor, voice director, and screenwriter. He is best known for being the voice of Yugi Muto/Yami Yugi for Yu-Gi-Oh! Edmund Paul Lewis, better known as Ted Lewis, is an American voice actor who does work for 4K Media Inc, Central Park Media, TAJ Productions, DuArt Film and Video and NYAV Post. He primarily works as an anime dub voice actor and is best known as the voices of King Dedede and Escargoon from Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, Ryo Bakura from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, and Jack Atlas from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. He was also one of the script writers for Pokémon Chronicles. In 2018, Ted Lewis won two Behind the Voice Actors Awards, both for 'Best Vocal Ensemble in an Anime Feature Film/Special', though one was a People's Choice award.

They were formerly known as Screenmusic Studios and then Studio E Productions until 2005. The studio is owned by Jamie Simone. It has another studio located in Burbank, California.

Claudio Moneta is an Italian voice actor who contributes to voicing characters in animation, video games, sitcoms and more. He is very well known for providing the voice of the title character in the Italian language version of the Nickelodeon animated series SpongeBob SquarePants. He is also known for voicing Kakashi Hatake in Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden. The role was temporarily filled by fellow voice actor Gianluca Iacono between 2010 and 2011, due a motorbike incident suffered by Moneta. He was also replaced in Mass Effect 2 because of that accident as well.
