Svalta is an upcoming comedy thriller written by James Serafinowicz, Nat Saunders and Nick Frost, who also stars alongside Aisling Bea and Sebastian Croft. Frost also produces, and Steffen Haars directs.

Premise

A family go on holiday to a remote Swedish island, only to discover there is a serial killer on the prowl. [1]

Cast

Production

Production companies Wayward Entertainment, Resolute Films, Film Service Finland and XYZ Films came onboard in September 2022 to produce the film written by Nick Frost, James Serafinowicz and Nat Saunders with Steffen Haars and Flip van der Kuil set as directors. [2] Producers included Lee Kim for Resolute Films, John Hegeman for Wayward Entertainment, Nick Spicer and Aram Tertzakian for XYZ and Frost. Haars completed production as solo director. [3]

Casting

Nick Frost and Lena Headey were attached to star in September 2022. [4] Headey had to drop out of the project due to a scheduling conflict and was replaced in the cast by Aisling Bea. The cast also included Sebastian Croft and Maisie Ayres. [5]

Filming

Principal photography was scheduled to take place in Finland in 2023. [6] Filming wrapped in Tampere in late 2023. [7]

As a stand-up comedian, she won the So You Think You're Funny award at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2012, being only the second woman to win the award in its then-25-year history.
