The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was the fourth edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest for young singers aged 8 to 15. On 2 December 2006, the contest was broadcast live from Bucharest, Romania making it the second time the contest had been held in a capital city. It was organised by the Romanian national broadcaster, Romanian Television (TVR), in co-operation with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Sweden has participated at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest eleven times since its inception in 2003. Two broadcasters have been responsible for Sweden's entries at Junior Eurovision – from 2003 to 2005, Sveriges Television (SVT) was responsible, before withdrawing with other Nordic broadcasters. From 2006 to 2009, commercial broadcaster TV4 was responsible for Sweden's entry at the Junior Eurovision.
Cyprus has participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 10 times since debuting at the first contest in 2003. The country's best result was eighth place, which was achieved both at the 2004 and 2006 contests with Marios Tofi and the song "Oneira" and Luis Panagiotou and Christina Christofi and the song "Agoria koritsia" respectively. The national broadcaster Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) has hosted the event for Cyprus once, in 2008 in Limassol. The nation's last appearance in the contest was in 2017.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 was the fifth edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest. It was held in the Ahoy indoor sporting arena in Rotterdam, the Netherlands on 8 December. The host country was chosen by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) on 13 July 2006 and the host city was announced on 11 September 2006. AVRO won the rights to host the show over Hrvatska radiotelevizija (HRT) of Croatia and the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) of Cyprus.
The United Kingdom participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2005, which was held on 26 November 2005 in Hasselt, Belgium. National broadcaster ITV was responsible for their participation and organised a national final to select the British entry. Ultimately, Joni Fuller was selected with the song "How Does It Feel".
Switzerland competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Era stupendo" by Paolo Meneguzzi. Meneguzzi was chosen by the Swiss national broadcaster, SRG SSR idée suisse, to sing for Switzerland in Belgrade, Serbia. For 2008, SRG SSR idée suisse had continued to internally select the song and singer to represent Switzerland at the 2008 contest, with an open call for songs being held by the broadcaster.
Frida Lina Marianne Sandén is a Swedish singer who represented Sweden in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 where she placed eighth. During 2008 and 2009 Frida has participated with a role in the musical Hujeda mej vá många sånger alongside her sister Mimmi and Hanna Hedlund amongst others.
Norway participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Hold On Be Strong" written by Mira Craig. The song was performed by Maria Haukaas Storeng. The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) organised the national final Melodi Grand Prix 2008 in order to select the Norwegian entry for the 2008 contest in Belgrade, Serbia. 18 entries competed in the national final that consisted of three semi-finals, a Last Chance round and a final. Eight entries ultimately qualified to compete in the final on 9 February 2008 where the winner was determined over two rounds of voting. In the first round of voting, a public televote exclusively selected the top four entries to advance to the competition's second round—the Gold Final. In the second round of voting, "Hold On Be Strong" performed by Maria Haukaas Storeng was selected as the winner following the combination of votes from three regional jury groups and a public televote.
Portugal participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Senhora do mar " written by Andrej Babić and Carlos Coelho. The song was performed by Vânia Fernandes. The Portuguese broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) organised the national final Festival da Canção 2008 in order to select the Portuguese entry for the 2008 contest in Belgrade, Serbia. The competition took place on 9 March 2008 where the winner was selected exclusively by public televoting. "Senhora do mar " performed by Vânia Fernandes emerged as the winner with 17,650 votes.
France participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "Et s'il fallait le faire" written by Fred Blondin and Anse Lazio. The song was performed by Patricia Kaas. The French broadcaster France Télévisions in collaboration with the television channel France 3 internally selected the French entry for the 2009 contest in Moscow, Russia. Patricia Kaas was officially announced by France 3 as the French entrant on 28 January 2009 and later the song was presented to the public as the contest entry on 1 February 2009.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2009 was the seventh edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest and took place in Kyiv, Ukraine. It was scheduled for 21 November 2009. 13 countries were confirmed by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to compete in the contest.
Georgia originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "We Don't Wanna Put In" written by Stephane Mgebrishvili and Bibi Kvachadze. The song was performed by the group Stephane and 3G. The Georgian broadcaster Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) held a national final in order to select the Georgian entry for the 2009 contest in Moscow, Russia. An open call for submissions was held which resulted in the shortlisting of ten entries that were presented to the public during a televised production on 18 February 2009. The results of a public televote combined with the votes of an expert jury resulted in the selection of "We Don't Wanna Put In" performed by Stephane and 3G as the Georgian entry.
Sweden was represented at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 by Molly Sandén with "Det finaste någon kan få". TV4 took over participation after Sveriges Television (SVT) withdrew after 2005.
Sweden returned to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2009, after missing the 2008 Contest. TV4 held an internal selection to select the Swedish entry, which competed at the Contest on 21 November. The TV4 jury selected Mimmi Sandén to compete for Sweden, with the song "Du" (You).
Mimmi Linnéa Marianne Sandén, also known by the stage name Mimi is a Swedish singer and actress who came to fame by becoming 1st runner up in the television show Talang 2007 (Sweden's Got Talent).
Sweden competed in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2010, with Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT) having returned to organise the Swedish entry for the first time since 2005, after TV4 had withdrawn prior to the contest. An internal selection was used to select the 7th Swedish entry in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, with Josefine Ridell being selected to sing "Allt jag vill ha" at the contest in Minsk, Belarus.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2011 was the ninth edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and took place in Yerevan, Armenia at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex. It was the first time in history of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest that the contest was held in the previous year's winning country. Public Television Company of Armenia (ARMTV) was the main organizer and host broadcaster of the show, being provided financial aid from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) made of entrance fees from the participating broadcasters, while Swedish company HD Resources assisted with the technical side of the production.
Georgia participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 which took place on 8 December 2007, in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) was responsible for organising their entry for the contest. Mariam Romelashvili was externally selected to represent Georgia with the song "Odelia Ranuni". Georgia placed fourth with 116 points.
Lithuanian broadcaster LRT announced their debut for Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007. The National Final, "Mažųjų žvaigždžių ringas" chose Lina Joy to represent Lithuania in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007.
