The Illinois Derby is a race for Thoroughbred horses for three year olds run over a distance of one and one-eighth miles on the dirt at Hawthorne Race Course in Stickney/Cicero, Illinois, just west of Chicago in early April each year. Concern was a multi-millionaire American Thoroughbred racehorse. He was sired by top stallion Broad Brush, who in turn was a son of Ack Ack. His dam was Fara's Team. Foaled in Maryland, Concern was best known for his wins in the 1994 Breeders' Cup Classic and the grade two Arkansas Derby. Born at owner Robert Meyerhoff's Fitzhugh Farm in Phoenix, Maryland. To date, Concern is one of only three Maryland-bred horses ever to surpass the three million dollar mark in earnings. The other two were Cigar and Awad. He finished racing with a record of 7-7-11 in 30 starts and career earnings of $3,079,350.

By Jules, a "black type" winner and classic sire in Brazil, Peace Rules' grandsire was Forty Niner, a son of the great sire- producing stallion, Mr. Prospector, a Leading sire in North America. His dam, Hold To Fashion, has dropped five foals, all winners.

Hasty Road (1951–1978) was an American thoroughbred racehorse which won the 1954 Preakness Stakes. In 1953, Hasty Road won six of his nine races including the Arlington Futurity and the Washington Park Futurity, and set a record for prize money won by a two-year-old. In 1954 Hasty Road defeated Determine in track record time in the Derby Trial and then finished second to the same horse in the Kentucky Derby. At Pimlico Race Course in May he recorded his most important victory when winning the Preakness Stakes by a neck from Correlation. The rest of his three-year-old campaign wasn't as good, but he returned to form to win the Widener Handicap in February 1955 before his racing career was ended by injury.
Midway Road was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. A descendant of Mr. Prospector, he was sired by Jade Hunter and bred by Will Farish. Midway Road was a multiple graded stakes winner best remembered for his two grade one runner-up finishes in important stake races during his career. Most notably, he finished second in the 2003 Preakness Stakes.
