The Women's 1500 metre freestyle competition at the 2019 World Championships was held on 22 and 23 July 2019. [1] [2] The defending champion was Katie Ledecky, but she was forced to withdraw due to illness. [3] [4]

Ledecky is the world record holder in the women's 800- and 1500-meter freestyle as well as the former world record holder in the women's 400-meter freestyle. Ariarne Elizabeth Titmus, is an Australian swimmer. She is the reigning Olympic champion in the women's 200-metre and 400-metre freestyle, having won both events at the 2020 Summer Olympics, the world record holder in the long course 400-metre freestyle, and formerly the world record holder in the short course 400-metre freestyle. In 2019 and 2020, she competed representing the Cali Condors in the International Swimming League.

Regan Smith is an American competitive swimmer. She is a former world record holder in the women's long course 100-meter backstroke and the 200-meter backstroke. Kathryn Eileen Grimes is an American competitive swimmer. At the 2022 World Aquatics Championships, she won silver medals in the 1500 meter freestyle and the 400 meter individual medley. She placed fourth in the 800 meter freestyle at the 2020 Summer Olympics, where she was the youngest member of the US Olympic Team at 15 years of age.

Swimming at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships took place from 18 to 25 June 2022. The United States won the most gold medals (17) and overall medal count (45) in this discipline. Katie Ledecky of the United States and Léon Marchand of France earned FINA Swimmer of the Meet honors based on a scoring system that awards points for top-four finishes.

The 2021 Toyota U.S Open Swimming Championships was held from December 1 to 4, 2021 at Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, United States. Competition was conducted in a long course (50-meter) pool.
