Cyclo-cross is a form of bicycle racing. Races typically take place in the autumn and winter, and consist of many laps of a short course featuring pavement, wooded trails, grass, steep hills and obstacles requiring the rider to quickly dismount, carry the bike while navigating the obstruction and remount. Races for senior categories are generally between 40 minutes and an hour long, with the distance varying depending on the ground conditions. Team Specialized Designs for Women was an elite women's professional road bicycle racing team licensed in Switzerland that competed in national events (NE), UCI-rated events and UCI Women's Road World Cup (WC) events. The British National Cyclo-cross Championships are held annually. The winners of each event are awarded with a symbolic white cycling jersey featuring blue and red stripes, which can be worn by the rider at other cyclo-cross events in the country to show their status as national champion. The champion's stripes can be combined into a sponsored rider's team kit design for this purpose.

Karl Litschi was a Swiss professional road bicycle racer. He was both a cyclo-cross cyclist and a road race cyclist, become Swiss national champion in both disciplines. In the 1939 Tour de France, he won one stage. In the same year he was the Swiss National Road Race champion.

In 2022, Richards added a first Commonwealth Games gold in cross-country mountain bike to her palmarès.

Kevin Kuhn is a Swiss multi-discipline cyclist, who competes in cyclo-cross for UCI Cyclo-cross Team Tormans, and in road cycling for UCI Continental team EF Education–Nippo Development Team. He won the silver medal in the men's under-23 event at the 2020 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in Dübendorf.
