Sydney Gidabuday (born August 21, 1996, in Orange, California) is an American distance runner who runs for professional running team Roots Running Project. He competes in events ranging from 3000m to the half-marathon. [1] He attended El Modena High School of Orange, California and later competed on the collegiate level at Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. [2]
Sydney Gidabuday's birth parents are both Tanzanian-born. Although Gidabuday was raised in Orange, California by an adoptive family and is an American citizen, he was raised in Tanzania from a young age before returning to California for high school and further education. Gidabuday attended El Modena High School in Orange, California where he competed for the track team. Gidabuday then went on to receive a scholarship to attend DII college Adams State University, [3] where he studied Business and Sports Management. [4]
In college, Sydney dominated the DII college scene becoming a seven-time NCAA champion whilst competing for Adams State University. In doing so, Gidabuday became the second-fastest 5,000m runner in DII history and became the Adams State University 5000m record holder (13:29.31). Sydney Gidabuday currently runs with the Roots Running Project coached by Dr. Richard Hansen and based out of Boulder, Colorado. Other team members include Noah Droddy, Frank Lara, and Alia Gray. He previously ran for the professional running team Tinman Elite based in Boulder, Colorado, and coached by Tom Schwartz. His personal bests are 4:01.76 for the mile, 7:54.77 for 3,000m, 13:22.40 for 5,000m and 28:15.40 for 10,000m [5]
Alan Lawrence Culpepper is an American distance runner and two time United States Olympian. Along with competing on four World Championship teams, his accomplishments include finishing fourth in the Boston Marathon in 2005, winning the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon and finishing 12th at the 2004 Olympic marathon in Athens. His 2:09:41 at the 2002 Chicago Marathon tied him with Alberto Salazar for the fastest ever debut marathon by an American, and remains his fastest marathon. Culpepper has won three U.S. Cross Country titles and three track titles. His personal bests include 3:55.1 for the mile, 13:25 for 5k and 27:33 in the 10k.
Kara Goucher is an American long-distance runner. She was the 10,000 meters silver medalist at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics and represented the USA at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and 2012 London Olympics. She made her marathon debut in 2008 and finished third the following year at the Boston Marathon.
Hassan Mead is a Somali-American long-distance runner. He was a cross country and track athlete for the University of Minnesota. An eight-time All-American in his Minnesota career, four in cross country and five in track. He is a nine-time Big Ten Conference Champion winning two in cross country, and seven in track, sweeping all distance events in the 2009 indoor and outdoor seasons. Mead is currently running with the Oregon Track Club in Eugene, Oregon. Prior to his time at the University of Minnesota, Hassan is a 2007 graduate of Minneapolis South High School.
Jennifer Simpson is an American middle- and long-distance runner, formerly a steeplechaser. She won the gold medal in the 1500 meters at the 2011 World Championships, silvers at the 2013 and 2017 World Championships, and a bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics, becoming the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in the event.
Juan Diego Estrada Constantino is a Mexican-American long-distance runner. He competed in the 10,000 metres at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London for Mexico. After some confusion about his eligibility after becoming a U.S. citizen, he was excluded from the U.S. Olympic trials even though it was later known that Estrada was misinformed on his eligibility possibilities. Estrada resides in Flagstaff, Arizona.
William Andrew Nelson is an American steeplechase runner. He is a two-time Big 12 Conference steeplechase titleholder, a six-time NCAA All-American, and a runner-up at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships. He also posted a personal best time of 8:17.27 by finishing eleventh at the 2011 Diamond League Meet in Monaco. In the same year, Nelson claimed his first ever career title at the U.S. Outdoor Track & Field Championships, with a time of 8:28.46.

Lauren Kleppin is an American long-distance runner. Kleppin competes in marathon, half-marathon, and numerous road distances. She holds the second highest American finish at the Los Angeles Marathon since 2012, having finished third in 2014. Andrew James Hunter is an American middle distance runner from Purcellville, Virginia, who competes professionally for Adidas on the running group Tinman Elite. He set the national indoor mile record for high school boys in 2016. He was named Gatorade National Cross-Country Runner of the Year in 2016. He committed to the University of Oregon on November 12, 2015 but instead decided to pursue a professional career by signing a 10-year contract with Adidas on July 8, 2016.

Futsum Zienasellassie is an Eritrean-born American long distance runner. After running for North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, Zienasellassie ran for Northern Arizona University. He currently runs for the Hoka One One Northern Arizona Elite team.
Allison "Allie" Ostrander is an American long-distance runner from Soldotna, Alaska. The repeat NCAA Division I steeplechase champion in 2017, 2018 and 2019, she competed for the Boise State University Broncos.
